Unhappy installing springs RIGHT NOW

Just did front drivers side ... before I do other front I have a cpl of questions ...

Anything I need to do to put the upper ball joint back in? Is just screwing nut and putting cotter pin all that needs to be done? Also, is there suppose to be a grove on the botton of the strut that goes into the grove of the upper end of the fork? Looks like I may have missed it by a millimeter. I may have redo that side, uh?

Thx!

Well, I finished installing my springs. The front springs turned out to be pretty easy but the rear was a pain and a real struggle. I even stripped the bolt that connects the botton of rear shock to the lower assembly (i mean stripped the threads). The DYI that used to be avail on this forum was easy to follow but the rear was not as easy as it claimed.

I had trouble with the rear driver's side. After everything was done, all that was left to do was to bolt the strut assembly to the lower control arm. But I stripped the thread and the bolt.

My friend and I drove around town for 4 hours, went to 7 different hardware shops to find a tap. Fvck. Then we had to drive an hour and a half to a shop to get a new bolt. Other than that, I actually had fun.

Felt good, though, didn't it? People who just take their cars to the shop will never know how good it feels when you take a step back after you finish the job and admire your work. You're like, "I did that."

How did you install them in an hour. Many people said it takes them 3-4 hours. I plan on installing my H&R ss next weekend and, this will be my first time installing springs on any of my cars. I wanna know your procedure, so I can have more time in the day to watch them settle

I have a lot of experience in working on cars. I have worked on Honda/Acuras for 10 years. I have experience in engine swaps and lowering cars. I also have air tools which is a BIG help. Actually, 3-4 hours seems correct for a first timer. That would be like 45min to an hour each strut. In my case, it's about 15 min each, but like I said, I have much experience in this.

BTW, The ball joint does not have to be seperated to remove the struts.

I had a friend that is not very car savey. He lowered at 90-93 Accord in 8 hours. The next car he did was a Civic and that took him half the time. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that if this is your FIRST TIME you have someone around that knows what they are doing.
