Exclamation IMPORTANT! Do I need to put the intake resonator on before transmission eval

I'm about to go to the Honda and Acura dealerships nearby and was wondering if I need to put the intake resonator back on. I don't want to get there and them blame that on the transmission problem and say it wasn't because the tranny was bad from the start

If your out of warranty then what are you worried about them not covering it for?

Sorry I was too vast in my first post. I read that lots of people have been able to cut deals so I was gonna see if Honda/Acura will take 2000 cash and I'll pay up front. I don't quite know why I thought the intake resonator would matter.. lol

Yup, offer 2k up front and they'll be like "well, we usually ask for 3k up front"...See what they do before you even talk about money, even if you are prepared to spend.

So I followed the advice and didn't offer up front, but Acura dealership quoted 3500-3800 and said the most they can negotiate is 100 bucks.

Honda said 3300 no negotiating. So, I'm going to a guy locally who said he wanted to look at the car. Since my code explanation was - transmission gear selection switch circuit fault, he thinks maybe there's just a wiring problem.

Wish me luck! If its not, then I'm gonna try to sell my car for what I can get out of it and then purchasing a CL-6 or 3g tl

have you tried calling acura client service and talk to the service manger, some correct me if im wrong, most people have better luck that way then actually going to the dealership. its worth a try.

No I actually haven't tried that.. If the guy I know was wrong about the wiring problem I might have make a call before selling the car

client service cant do anything till you have been to the dealer and tried with them

Was the car diagnosed by the acura dealership as failed transmission?
Did the OP speak directly with the Service Manager? say- I belong to acurazine and know its possible to get some help or a discounted price....others have been getting the 2200-2500 range for a 5 speed so the 4 speed should be even less

Labor on the job is 4 hours and they can give an internal cost rate if they want
Some work is better than no work these days
It must be good times for those dealers to offer you nothing-100 bucks ptttttt
Do you have a family history with either one-bought cars there-always serviced?

No family history with the Acura place, we almost bought a car there once but found a better deal so I think the used car dept. is pissed at us but their new car/ service building is over 5 miles away and has different employees.

I've used the Honda dealership for 2 problems on my car but thats it
