Humming sound of engine

I just put an alpine 7995 which needs an amp so i m using an old sherwood 240 4 channel. Supposedly the front speakers are 6.5 and the rear are 5.25 and the sub is an 8". I only have the interior speaker powered. The shop suggested instead of my sherwood go with the phoenix gold 5 channel to power the amp. Is it the Bose speakers thats doing this? If i upgrade the amp will it help? Or should i upgrade the speakers anyhow. Ive never had this problem in other cars.

deffinately check the ground and power wires and the inputs on the amp - that is most likely the problem - not the speakers for sure. I have the same HU and it is great in my car

stock bose speakers are 6.5" front and back and are pieces of shit full range individually amped speakers. there isn't even a seperate tweeter like a "real" coaxial. Alpine makes the best HU on the planet so good choice there, but get rid of those speakers first and the sub is pathetic. Good 6.5 Eclipse point source speakers in F&R amped will kill your stock setup and the bass will be better too. or go all out and get 1 or 2 12" DVC's. I got 2 Orion 12" DVC's, but too much for me. I might sell them soon with my 7yrs old Fosgate(Before Rockford Fosgate amp) best amp I have ever owned. PG amp's are over-rated big time, check out Orion, JL, Kicker amps and you can't lose.

ok i got a set of alpine 6.5 for the front. I was going to do components but way to expensive. And i was going to get a good set of 5.25 for the rear. I got the 5 channel phoenix gold amp already cause i want to get an audiobahn 8" for the rear stock location. I cannot believe how crappy the stock speakers are cause some of my Mp3 songs i cannot hear certain parts. So who makes a nice set of 5.25? Focal or Kove a good choice? And how bout Audiobahn for the 8" sub choice in the rear? Hard to find 8" subs anymore. And thank you for the replys. Everyone has been so helpful.

those alpines has be very hard to mount in the stock openings which are very shallow. your best bet is to get speakers with a neodymium magnet which is a much thinner magnet, but just as powerful and a big fat magnet for rears if you want 5.25" that's fine you can get 6.5" because rears are same size as fronts go with eclipse point source, they are awesome when amped and can handle more power than the specs state and can take a brutal beating, you can find them on ebay for 90.00 a set for 5.25" plus shipping or around 110-120 for 6.5" plus shipping. focal's are great too can't go wrong with either one! 8" subs you can find tons of them on ebay all different brands, pick the one you like best. my preferences are eclipse, orion, kicker, jl.

the key to the sub is finding a free air sub. the other key is finding a Shallow mount sub. the torsion bars are in the way for a sub to fit into the hole unless you do some modification to them.
