Question How to run wire from HU to trunk

Hi,

I own Acura 2000 TL with NAVI and would like to install CD changer in the trunk, but my main concern is how to run wires from the head unit. I want the installation to look nice an neat. What would be the most professional and clean way to do it.

If someone has pictures that would be great.

Thank you

under the carpet. get long enough wires and run them along the side of the car just under the carpet. about the only thing to have to really be removed would be the lower cussion of the rear seat, and the center part of the consloe to get to the radio back

other wise you can remove the center console and lower rear seat cussion and run them down the middle (it a little harder to snake the wires under the carpet but it can be done this way too and doesnt require as much wire

You have to remove the back seat and run the wires under the door trim either passenger or driver side.

He has pictures and how he ran the wires. I hope it helps.

There are instructions at h o n d a c u r a w o r l d . c o m. But I have to ask, why a CD changer in the trunk when it's much easier to install an iPod, which holds much more music?

Nah, that can't be the reason.

But seriously, before I'd drop almost $400 in a CD changer in the trunk, I'd price out an iPod. Just my opinion.

Hello guys,

First of all let me express my appresiation to all your responses. Thank you very much. I was thinking about installing PNP sattelite radio unit in my '00 TL, but the information I found on web sites is very confusing. Someone told me about Blitzsafe unit that gets plugged in AUX input in HU, but then another person said that that particular Blitzsafe unit will not work becuase I have factory installed NAVI. I am so confused :-)

If you or somebody you know installed a PNP sattelited radio unit in 2000 TL please let me know. I would appresiate it very much.

Thank you all again

some on ecorrect me if im wrong but the nave has nothing to do with it. the back of the HU where the factory cd changer plugs in is where the blitzsafe unit get installed. you simply press the cd button 2 times to activate that and thats where you would plug in the rca's for your audio. i had sirius via fm modulator for awhile in my 2000 and wish i had used the blitzsafe, but i got sick of the pos HU and went aftermarket

For everyone information, the HU for navi and non navi are the same. The only difference is the main connector for non-navi has 4 wires less. However, the CL HU is completely different from TL unit (so not plug & play). I converted non-navi to factory navi myself. So, I am pretty sure about this.

Question

Guys, thank you very much for sharing your knowlege. I really appreciate it.
I just bought Sportster IR and have several questions I need to ask:

1. When I install Blitzsafe behind HU, do I need to use a cable time or velcro to keep it in place or it should just hang in the air?

2. What is the easiest and cleanest way to run a sattelite antenna from the roof to the trunck ? I've read that the correct way is to run it along the black weathergard gasket. I don't want to cause any demages that may lead to possible water leakage.

3. What would be the best mounting choice for the Sportster IR ? I wold like to mount it to the right of the HU. I found several products on the web, but they all refer to non-NAVI Acuras.

Thank you once again for sharing your knowlege.

as for the blitzsafe? i dont know, dont have one either would work i would imagine

as for teh wire, if your going to mount it on the roof, the wire will run around the window just need to slip teh wire under teh rubber trim. it doesnt seal any thing, so dont worry about leaking. its there to fill the gap between the window and car, thats all.
as for where to mount it, mount it where you like it the best and that it doesnt interfere with any thing

Fsttyms1, thanks a lot for quick response. Should I use a flat screwdriver to run antenna wire under the rubber trim ?

What is a cushion tape?

I've read some HONDA instructions and they mentioned "cushion tapes". Are they the same as 3M double-sided tape?
