Even with the screens I didn't win anything. Not sure who all the other winners were in the Acura class... anyone know? I do know this car was one of the winners (2nd I think). Dunno what was up, but it seemed like people were more after doing as much to their car as possible and not so much after making it all look good. I think a clean look is much nicer than big wings and graphics. But the judges look for that stuff - I could've gotten 5+ more points if I had any graphics.

There was another TL there with a few mods. He had a broadway mirror, gauges in the A pillar (he said they were from a 98 Accord - fit was good but with a small gap), 17" rims, audio/video setup, painted engine cover and stabilizer bar, fogs, and (for some reason ) he had his spoiler LED covered. ok your ride looks 10x better than the other TL... I actually like the interga one, it looks clean to me. I like the rear end cuz its differnt, but thats just me.

Nate's car did look really sharp on Saturday. I also noticed that the other cars were more into graphics, but then you looked closer and saw that they had all kinds of scratches on their paint. That green Prelude with the seats was a riot, though. I started laughing when I saw it and didn't realize that the owner was 2 ft away.
If anyone is going to one of these shows in the future, make sure you get your tickets online in advance. Like a dumb ass, I did not and had to wait over an hour in line. However, it was worth going to see it all.

 

Nate your TL blows that other silver one away man. Im sorry you didnt win. He didnt even have an Inspire fog switch! I guess rollin' on Blingin' 19's dont mean much to judges huh?

I'm sorry, but that other TL is NOT clean.. it looks like he piecemealed it together a bit.. going for oooh and aaahh, but not bling at all...

I guess that is what the shows go for, things that are just outrageous and flashy.. I guess they judged HP by the number of stickers and colors of paint cars had rather than the actual cars themselves..
that covered spoiler led is interesting though.. did it light up or do anything??

At HIN they're looking more for the "Fast and the Furious" look than the tastefully-modded luxury sytle of Nate's TL. Sad but true. After taking a look at the pics, I can say that not one car other than Nate's caught my eye as something I might strive to achieve. Too bad the judges don't have the same taste. Way to represent Nate! More luck next time!

 

Thanks guys! Yeah, I don' t know what the deal was... I guess the judges didn't bother taking into account that my car was better than most cars there STOCK... IMO with my mods I should've eaten fools, landing atleast 3rd. I'd be really interested to see the other cars that placed.

Hey don't rag on the other TL too hard - he was representin' and he didn't have any rice (he didn't place either). He was just out there trying to get some looks. I'd give him props for the gauge pillar, I've never seen that before and I've heard a couple people in this forum ask about it. Anyway, I told him to come check us out here.

NO that S500 was stock but right next to it was a better benz an E class wagon with 19's body kit and best of all the RENNTECH E 6.0 and other renntech parts!

By now you should know that even though the TL is a nice car...and the kit and rims add that something extra, it's still what everybody else has done. First off, you need a new paint scheme...that'll create the one off appearance. After that...well, you have to do something to your engine bay....I replaced my stock strut tower with an all-aluminum one for a 98 accord...dresses up the engine a lot...than maybe some aluminum replacements...like coolant holder and power steering pump reservoir.....I think a custom ram air hood on your car would look bad ass.....just some suggestions.

 

Yeah, I know I haven't done anything as drastic as a twin turbo or extreme custom bodywork. But its more than just a kit and rims... its rims that no one else has - no one else there even had the same *brand* of rim. How about super crystal lugs? I have some JDM parts: Inspire wood steering wheel, Inspire tails, Inspire door rails. How many Mugen grills for the TL do you think there are in the US? Granted its just a bolt on mod, but still. Not to mention custom sunvisor monitors - they are very much a show item. I only saw one other car with TVs in the visors. Headers... sure every 'teg has headers, but do they cost over $1000? Try sub $400. The TL and its mods are on another level from the Integra and should be treated as such. Shows like that are really about money and how much you can throw into your ride, and how cool the stuff is that your money bought.

I do realize I'm not the most modded Acura, but my mods are high quality and IMO fit together very well, even though they aren't complete off-the-wall, never been done before stuff. I didn't really see a lot of Acura competition and I thought for sure I'd land in the top 3.

What did you use to get your car so shiny?

Eagle One quick detailer. Just spray it on and rub it off. I believe it puts a thin layer of carnuba wax on there making it shine and picks up any dirt that might be present. I laid on my back and cleaned the exhaust and the underside of the rear of the car so I could put down mirrors. That way you could look at the mirror on the ground and see the exhaust and how clean it was underneath.

 

Really like the meshed brake duct/fog holes! How did you do it - let us know man Thanks for all the pics - your TL looks sharp! No graffix needed.

 

Yo Nate your ride looked great, and after looking at some of those other rides I am still trying to figure out what the judges were looking at. anyway for the next one I think someone mentioned some flames on the side or maybe even some velvet to cover up yourreal leather seats to catch the judges attention

 

Nate, not to insult the other TL, but your TL is way nicer. I love what you have done with your car. You were going for the classy look which IMHO is what looks best. What did they expect you to put a fire flame sticker all over the side of your car? Hellzzz no! Even if you didn't win, we all still love your car. Also, as long as your happy with it, thats all that matters.
