Recently acquired a 2002 tl base. I went to order some better headlight bulbs because they are terrible right now. Everywhere I looked showed they are hid low beam. Mine were clearly halogen so I looked and low beam has a 9006 bulb installed kinda rigged in factory headlight housing. I didn’t see where they had spliced this connector either, all looks factory. It’s dark so haven’t pulled headlights to verify if ballasts are even there. But couldn’t find any information on a hid to halogen swap and no idea why you would want to. Is the connector to oem ballasts similar enough to a 9006 bulb that it’d work?
At this point I would suggest visiting a bone yard and pulling headlight housings and the wiring harnesses, ballasts and everything and putting your car back to stock.
Just in case you decide to upgrade, here's a kit I purchased in November 2011 for my '03 CL-S6 around $65 before shipping:
Quantity: 2 H1/H7 to 9006 Adaptor Cables
Quantity: 1 DDM HID Kit, 35W, D2R, 4500K
Yea I wasn’t impressed. 9006 bulb is just sitting there with factory clip half holding it. Does anyone know what the connector looks like that plugs into factory ballast is main question? If it’s not a two wire and similar to a 9006 bulb then somebody has done some custom wiring splices somewhere hidden. I just didn’t have time last night to pull bumper and headlights to inspect further.
I will definitely be running hids again or led headlight bulbs as I’ve always had good luck with beam tech led headlight bulbs.
Well looked into it further. The 9006 connector is spliced in I found and no ballasts. What morons. I will go aftermarket with them.
On a side note without starting another thread. I ordered a key fob and have tried programming several times. I cannot get the car to enter programming mode. I’ve tried over and over. Waiting different amounts of time(1-4sec), holding fob button a little longer each time, going to I in between attempts, going all the way to off, etc and nothing works. Will not cycle locks on fourth time at all. I do only have a valet key with car so didn’t know if that is issue. From my research on that, it doesn’t seem like that matters just won’t operate trunk or glove box if locked with a master. I had another aftermarket key made programmed with hyko I tool. I’ve tried same with that key and won’t enter programming mode.
Any advice here? Thanks

I followed these instructions to program my aftermarket remotes.
I found that I needed to be slightly quicker on my counts than I had expected. I programmed two aftermarket remotes and the original. I used the master key during programming. Good Luck

Yea that’s instructions I found several places. I will try again. I’m wondering if it’s not because of valet key but can’t see why because from my research it shouldn’t matter. Thank you
Were the Acura’s the h1/h7 connector to factory ballasts? And this hid kit power in to ballasts is 9006? If that’s the case I won’t need them.
I just bought everything I listed above and did the install to get the car back on the road.
In my case, the drivers side HID all of a sudden died. When I looked into the ridiculous OEM replacement cost, I opted for these at the time. Pretty sure the OEM factory set-up on the 2G TL is the same as the CL. IIRC'ly, with this kit, you'll have to configure mounting and routing for the components. With your skillsets there should be no problem. I've had no lighting issues since and been very satisfied with the performance.
Well I’ve tried and tried again with key fob programming. It will not go into programming mode. Is there a alternate way to force car into programming mode?
check page 22-366 of the TL service manual for help on programming.
the above instructions seem a little confusing where they say "repeat steps ABC three times" that would suggest a total of four cycles; which doesn't match the manual.
perform it a total of 3 times, and then on the fourth, the vehicle should respond to the remote button's transmission.
do that once, then with the remaining remotes, just click lock or unlock ONCE until the car responds.
I ordered a hid kit from ddm and received it tonight. I installed passenger side and works as it should. What a difference. For anyone curious, the ballast input is in fact a 9006 female connector so whoever downgraded lights actually did me a favor in the long run as it was all plug and play. Thanks for the help.
