I just wanted to do my 1st post as a wassssssss-up!!

I just purchased a 99 TL.

After a hell of a lot of research, I decided to go w/ the 99 model.


Coming from these rides in order:

03 Sport Trac 4x4
96 Integra 4 dr auto
99 Maxima SE 5-spd
02 Acura RSX (auto)
96 Integra 5 spd 2dr

You can kinda see I tried out a lot of rides.
All in all out of all my rides I liked the Maxima SE for performance and the Integra for Gas saver. but traded it to get the 03 sport trac b/c we though we were going to be moving up North, then decided not to ,, I traded that sucker in for the TL.

My over-all impression so far w/ my TL is it's quick and very responsive. Reminds me alot of my Maxima, but the TL has more goodies and I think it feels quicker.

I have not played too much w/ the sport shift, but damn, when it hits over 4K mark, that SOB goes. I think it would be my 5-spd Maxima anyday.

Over-all I hope I will not have any tranny issues.

Also another quick question.... My rear view mirror viberates to much and that is not to Boom boom stereo. It just wiggles alot. Is there a way to tighten up the mirror so it will not shake around to much when I am driveing??

NICE CHOICE! my friend also has a 99 maxima, and when he drove mine, he was telling me how he loves the kick of vtec once the rpms hit 3800.

actually I am new to the TL lifestyle and haven't meet 2 many peeps yet on the board. systek is from a-town but he sold his tl last year i think. I would like to go to a meet soon

welcome! You shouldnt have any issues with the tranny on your car. Its the 5at that you would have to worry about!!!

vtec does not kick in at 3800 rpm, not even for the type s.

Thank you all 4 the great welcome. Now I feel like family, or a cousin at least .

But I did research a lot and I was going to get the 02 TL. I just wanted a TL they are just some sassy fast ass cars.
I choose the 99 due to no big tranny issues like the 00-03's which I feel the pain for the ones that own'em.

Also just a big phat tip. I notice a lot of people starting claimin they hear a clunk in the tranny and is the cause or a tranny going out. FWIW,,, mine, before I purchased it did the same thing. To find out it was 1 broken MOTOR MOUNT. If motor mounts are broken,, it does put strain on th tranny to make that annoying clunk noises. I replaced my moto-mount and all's perfect.

I just put about 800 miles on it and love it. Sport Shift is fun. Yes mine is a 4 spd tranny, not a 5spd.
