Headers,Axle back but no...

CAI,a friend of mine who own an ITR,he told me that,if i only change the headers and mufflers without the intake,it will not show much gain, because the oem filter doesn't suck enough air for the headers,do you agree what he said?should i buy CAI now, because I'm saving $$ for the supercharge(next summer),it's come with the icebox..... or you have a used one for sell?thank guys

It ALL comes down to better breathing. More air in faster, more air out faster = more power.

Therefore, if you don't optimize the intake airflow, then the headers and exhaust (designed to optimize exhaust airflow) will not achieve their maxium efficiency.

exactly - if you keep the stock intake system, dont expect much more power.

you can always buy the CAI now and then sell it later in the blackmarket..

or live w/ the little gain you will get now and save some money for the supercharger. (i would do this, cause i'm cheap)

get the CAI now

i won't consider a supercharger, since the car is getting old and more new cars are getting more powerful than the TL-S

and next summer is getting older again, well...you won't enjoy it for too long

i wouldn't invest 6000CAD into a supercharger, just get a faster car

my car is almost 4 yrs old and i figured out i will buy a new car within next yr or 2, so the BBK probably will be my last mod

That's sad to hear.

I'll be buying my car out of the lease next year, and it will most likely be worked on jointly by Suja1 Motoring and SPL Auto Tuning at a tune of about 400-450 hp. Also other things necessary to harness the power.

I'm in love with my car; I can't get rid of her. Yeah, my car is 2.5 years old now, but I can't find any other car on the market whose design I love from every angle. It's almost like Acura read my mind and designed it the way I wanted it. I am going to keep this car for years and years to come.

ohhh how cute...haha...but ya I know what you mean - and my car is 6 years old! There is no other car that I could replace it with w/o spending way too much (and because this car is paid off).

400+ HP??? what are you planing on for that? You must have a good job to be spending as much $$$ on your car that you do...congrats though

Maui who co-owns SPL Auto Tuning is a great turbo builder. Suja1 Motoring guys also know their shit. And best of all, the two shops are friends. I know the guys at both places, and they are all about working on a J32A2 motor.

They will have to relocate the battery, build cast iron (I want durability) turbo manifold, run all the piping, and find a way to integrate an intercooler in the front bumper. I am also going to have them run AEM EMS with the AEM wideband.

As for the transmission, I don't know yet. If those guys want to do a 6-speed swap (PCM is going to be replaced with the EMS, and the engine bay is gonna be torn apart, anyway) then I will probably go that route. If not, the transmission is going to get reinforced.

Also custom-fabricated SFC's to stiffen up the chassis, traction bars, etc.

I haven't gotten any new mods as of late, because I've put everything on hold and want to save up for this. But the worst part of this is that I love to and do everything on my car myself. It's going to kill me to have someone work on it.

ya I understand that for sure - the only thing that holds me back most of the time is not having the proper setup and tools. good luck with everything though...when do you think you may start this?

the reason i didn't trade in for the 04+TL coz me and my mom agreed that the old one looks better, and most ppl think so too

the new TL doesn't really stand out in style, has a kinda bland styling that doesn't catch any attraction like the G35 coupe and no where near the new RL does

Well, the Italianate styling attracts quite a bit of attention, and stands out more than a (stock) 2G TL in traffic for sure. But a modified (visual cues) 2G TL stands out way more than the 3G. However, with the latest Ron Jon body kit, the 3G TL has potential to look great and attract attention (hopefully not from the po-po).

I kind of like having both a 2G and a 3G in the family. Just today, I had to go to downtown and file some government paperwork, and I felt like driving a stick so I took my brother's car. Fun shit.

At minimum remove the resonator and maybe get a high flow filter to see some gains. That will get you something for little or no money.
