Had My Car For 3 Days.....Tranny Dead, already
I purchased my 01 TL exactly a week ago, yesterday while driving on the highway my tranny just started jerking while trying to shift from 2nd to 3rd, I thought it was just a one time occurance and then today while driving home from work I tried to pass an old lady doing like 30 and my car shifted violently... Its happend like 3 or 4 times since I've had it. I called the dealer and wanted to drop it off tomorrow but they said that they wont have a loaner until Thursday... I wonder what I'll get to drive while they have my car. To those who have had theyre tranny recall done, how long did they have your car.

Yeah your right about that lol..... It has 91k on it and its the first tranny so I guess thats not too bad considering some people on here had theyre first replaced at 30k-50k.... I've seen many people are on theyre 3rd and 4th tranny, didnt Acura/Honda fix the problem with the new tranny that theyre putting in as a replacement?

pretty much fixed. If the replacement is a bad unit it fails pretty soon, and it has a warranty too
3-4 days normal- first day diagnose and order from warehouse, next day on the truck and 3rd or 4 day trans arrives at dealer
4 hours to remove and replace- usually tech knows trans coming and removes the old one in advance.
Old owner may not have known about extended warranty- or its just like mine- owner thought all was fine- 2 months go past and the trans goes.
Hooray for free replacements
Usually a TL or an RL is the loaner, depends on whats come in from cars left on monday
register your car by VIN at www.acura.com owner link make a free account and find your radio code and store it there.
Full warranty info for your car is there to look up anytime

If under the extended warranty for 99-02s and some 03s
FREE- Acura pays for everything including tow to shop
You may need a motor mount or something while they are in there
If no warranty- about $4000 total

I bought my TL because of this forum!
Knew about trans symptoms and what to look for, found a covered car
and shortly after purchase, got my new free transmission

Wow, mine only lasted three weeks after I bought it. It was an off lease '03 with low miles. They had my car 8 days for the replacement. (not counting the weekend)

wow, i guess you can say you're lucky that you are covered. I knew nothing about these trannies when i bought it and my car isn't covered. I went and got a warranty from my bank..I coughed up 800, but I'd rather pay the 800 than $4000. Yikes. that's a lot of money!

Burning Brakes
Took them about a week. Took it in Tuesday morning...they said that they have to order the tranny which take 3 to 4 days. By that time it was the weekend and i guess they didn't work on it till Monday. But I did get a brand new 07 TL to drive for a week

Then they told me that I could have them diagnose it for a rate of $98.00 an hour, and by the way they would need atleast two hours of diagnostic time to find it... When I told them no thanks he said cool "so that'll be $98.00 for the work that the technician has done.. So I bring my car in for a tranny recall, you tell me its not the tranny and that'll be $98.00 yeah right... after he saw that I was getting pretty pissed he decided to wave it.
