What are my options on modding the grill on my 2003 TL??

You can paint it or put a mesh grill on it.

i just took mine to a body shop and had them pain it just that makes it stand alone

Too bad you have an 03 TL - if you had the 99-01 TL, you could have had a choice of getting the Blaze grill.
