got rear ended:(

got rear ended friday(9/3/10) on my way to drop my sister off at her HS from a technical school. i slowed down due to a black volvo in front of me slowing down (out of the blue) so i slow down but the kid behind was paying attention and messed up the bottom of the bumper and broke the pieces holding my tailpipes so now there dangling. makes driving over speed bumps and getting in the drive way a little scary but the good thing no one was hurt and no real damage to the car from eye level.

here are some pics:

here's a short video i took:

that sucks luckily it doesn't look like much damage was done. exhaust hangers are pretty cheap to replace. Just a little bit off paint chipped off. Worse comes to worst sue his insurance co. if they won't pay.

The rear bumper cover is about $400, plus paint and clips.

Guy's kid whacked the corner of mine this summer.

I plan on touching it up with paint. Maybe. One of these days . . .

sucks to ever be in an accident, but this looks very minor, i am sure the body shop will have you back to preaccident condition in no time

Now is a good time to check that ALL of your brake light bulbs work. Don't forget the high mount brake light.

just a update, finally getting my car taking care of and rental(even tho as of now i cant drive it since only the insurer of my car can drive it which would be my dad. It just makes me wonder though how much longer they would have taken this if my dad didn't "get in their face" about it. Just shows you how insurance companies are. It's a mess. Just hope my car gets fixed to what it was

yeah insurance companies can be a bitch to deal with. though i wouldnt know. ive been rear ended around 5 or 6 times (i lost count) in my 5 years driving and each time i dealt with either Allstate or State Farm. i had great experiences with them. got my money less than a week after each accident.

anyways glad its finally being taken care of.

Here in BC, car insurance is run by the government - actually.
They don't mess around.

the shop quoted for $1500 but since the car isn't new,the insurance paid 75%.End up paying $200(ish) to help with the mufflers since they erent going to pay for brand new. Luckily the shop was able to find oem style aftermarkets for less the the dealer. I'm happy with the results. Couldn't ask for more, especially when i was going to eventual replace the exhaust and bumper scrapes. Guess a blessing came out of a "tragedy". I have to thank Brian's Auto Collison and Neal. They did a great job.

here's a pic i took, since its close to dusk, i'll try to take more tomorrow.

what did the 1500 cover if you had to pay for the mufflers.
Mine only costed 600 because of my custom paint just to redo the rear bumper.

the insurance company only paid 75% of that damage,so the body shop had to buy a bit of aftermarket stuff
