gains from header and pulley set?
gains from header and pulley set?
Im in an 02 S with a K&N stock filter. What can I expect from a meagan header in terms of hp/seat of pants feel? Do I need an aftermarket intake with it, or does it give enough power by itself? Also, what can I expect from a set of AEM pulleys?
headers give alot of power 25-30 or so whp for the type S, and a little less for the TLP. AEM pullies dont give you any power - the only pulley that gives power is the crank pulley - look for unorthodox racing (they are the best brand for that)

UR pulleys and AEM pulleys are totally different. UR's you gain alot from the crank pulleys, but AEM only makes it for power steering and alternator. the thing is, AEM actually makes your RPM's shoot up alot faster. makes your car feel quicker and lighter which is an awesome thing. yeah no power, but definitly helps you get to the Vtec range alot quicker than any other mod. so if you do get the AEM's plus the UR cranks, that will give you an awesome power up high and quickness at low revs.
headers will give you alot of high end power. but i actually love the pull of the pulleys. definitly more bang for the money than the headers. (and if you get the wrong headers that causes problems.. forget about it).

why do people say AEM pulley doesnt gain as much considering is the same size as UR? maybe its a bit heavier or breaks easier? But in any instance, headers are by FAR the best bang for the buck...unless you went CT

Any word on engine problems/disbalance from the UR pulley?
btw* i think this thread took the wrong turn...

I kno another member has had some no name crank pulley off ebay on his car even longer and its still doing good...so unless u want the UR name, dont go the extra $150.
and also, AEM's ONLY come in alternator and power steering like ou sig says.
etxxz, the AEM's and UR pulleys for the alt and pow steering are exactly the same, like you said. guess what?? the UR's dont get any gains either, but you do feel a difference from both. the RPMs really do shoot up and the car does feel alot nimbler.
so its much better and saves a butt load more money for you go for the megan crank pulley (50 from ebay) and AEM power steering/alt pulleys (100 almost anywhere), compared to getting just the heavier UR crank for 170-240 dollars.
I noticed on the Megan racing website that they dont even carry a tl pulley. I know the v6 accord headers are interchangeable, but I doubt if the pulley is. Is the accord pulley the one you are reffering to?
