funny noise from front passenger side...
This past weekend my 2000 tl started making funny noises from the front passenger side. Everytime I someone gets out of the front passenger side I hear a harsh creaking, like something is weighing down on the balljoint or something. If I push down the front passenger side I can hear the noise which made me think it was the suspension, but when I go over bumps it doesn't relaly make the noise. Only when I turn the steering wheel at lower speeds. I also hear it when I brake or give it a little bit of gas....what do you guys think? Sound like my balljoint?
If so, is that something that can wait a few days to get fixed? or is it safer to fix it asap?

took it to the shop this morning and they aren't even sure if it's the control arm or balljoint...want to charge me to do both anyway...WTF??? Is there an easy way to check both without having to jack the car up while I am at work?
damn...so they are telling me it'll be about 250 to replace the lower balljoint, that sound about right?
They also said that it may not be the only problem, that it could also be the tie rod moving when it shouldn't be.

dont let them replace the whole knuckle. napa sells the ball joint for something like 35 bucks. I wouldnt pay more than 80 to 130 for labor.(depending on if they do 1 or both) That sound could be a endlink causing that or ball joint if it is suspension related
i ended up getting the balljoint for 26 and found another shop to do just the balljoint for 60...plus 60 for alignment...so we'll see..
I hope that's the only cause to the horrible noise...

Congrats on the repair. I recently purchased my 2002 tl-S with 95000 miles. needless to say it needed some work. The front had some random noises that were difficult to isolate. I had began replacing the less expensive items and sampled the results thereafter. After 3 weeks, i have quieted the most of the noises and have a minor clunk sound under certain conditions.
Through the process of changing things out, the car's handling and throttle response improved noticibly. I suppose my situation is rather different as I have bought a car and the problems along with it, it has truly been a learning experience searching on the forums and reading the experiences everyone has. thanks for posting details on your particular situation.
