Front Camshaft Leak?

I've got an oil leak and it looks to be from the front camshaft cover.
Can I simply remove the cover and replace the gasket (91301-P8A-A00)? Or is it more involved than that?
Also looking at the last photo, you can see the oil down lower (bottom of the water passage). That wouldn't leak oil right?

Easy peasy!
Just remove the EGR and slip a new #15 (link below) on the camshaft thrust cover, torque to 16 lbs.

Awesome, thanks! That's what I was hoping but needed confirmation.

that rubber oring is bound to come out like hard plastic, careful taking it off the cam thrust cover. might want to do the rear cover as well. It's a good indicator of the condition that most o-rings on your engine are in if you haven't changed them.

getting the camshaft cover out was a pain. had to use PB Blaster and a razor blade to slowly pry it open. it makes me wonder how the leak could have originated there. the gasket was stiff and flat, so maybe that was enough for oil to push past.

To remove the rear camshaft cover it looks like i need to remove one bolt below the fuel pressure regulator (?) to move it out of the way. Is that correct?

The cover has a tight tolerance; try twisting the cover so that the flange no longer lines up with the side of the head and then prying it out a little at a time from each side.

You're right on the rear cover; I had to remove the fuel pressure regulator mounting to get it out.

This is a great indicator of the condition that the seals throughout the engine are in; particularly the oring above the rear main seal (the worst place for an oring ever made), the vtec solenoid orings, oil pump orings and the head gasket cover seal.

did the rear cover gasket while i was at it. It's 2 10mm bolts holding the regulator on. getting to the lower cover bolt was a pain since the (heater?) hose is right in front of it.

Good Job!
When the weather cools off, I have to helicoil the two cam thrust cover bolt holes in my front head when I do the timing belt. They have striped out, over the years, from removing & reinstalling the S/C'er for maintenance. Got to remove the water passage assembly to get the correct angle with a drill to have half a chance.
