Talking Foglights

Hello guys, I am new to this forum. Let me just tell you about myself. I drive a '00 Black TL. I aquired this fine car through my father's company. His company car limit was just enough to buy the TL without spending a dime of his own money. Since my father already has a niss. maxima, he gave the car to me. The car comes with free gas (free gas cc) also and free lube/any maintainence. I must say my experience so far has been great. I just love driving this baby. However, lately I have not been able to do any mods to the car. I'd like to add fog lights.. does anyone have any recommendations? Also, is it hard to install? How much would they range to be and is there a switch available near the sun roof/TCS console (there is one empty slot on the right) Thanks in advance.

Shane

welcome aboard!! i had the piaas 1000's installed. they have a bluish reflector. i think they look great and do have a bluish cast to them when they are on and they are also pretty bright. i originally wanted to have them installed in the slots at the furthest ends of the bumper, but the installer said it would be hard to, actually it's probably bec. he couldn't. he had them placed in the area next to the slots. i think they look great here too. i've seen other TL's placing their fogs here.

Haha. Well I'll ask but I think he'll say I'm more than enough for him =) Lol.. I am after all an only child =) So where can I obtain these fogs? How hard to install? I'm not a very good car/install type person.. so this would be my first time. If there is any welding or any of that sort required I'd rather pay to have it done.

Cool

I installed PIAA 1700x Fogs on my TL. I had them done at a local Performance Shop, so I can’t attest to the difficulty. However, I know they had to remove the bumper to install them. For the TL, I would strongly recommend the PIAA 1700x since the ‘Super-White’ bulbs are a near match for the HID headlights. Another option would be the PIAA 1400’s but I personally thought they were too small. A third option is the PIAA 930’s, which are more rectangular and have a clear lens (versus blue on the 1700x’s).

Also, I know there are a lot of posts in this forum stating how they have been able to install fogs in the ‘fake cutouts’ at either end of the front bumper – and they have – just look at some of the photos in this forum. However, my understanding is that this cannot be done without some type of custom brackets or bodywork. Apparently, there is nothing behind those cutouts in the TL’s stock bumper that can support the fog lights. In my case, they put them at either end of the slot in the bumper (below the license plate frame). This was not my first choice, but I was trying to get away as cheap as possible.

As for the Inspire Switch, the installer that installed my fog lights claimed he couldn’t wire it to the PIAA fogs. My guess is that he either did not want to bother, or he truly had no clue as to how to install the switch (I would rather he be honest, than mess up the electrical system on my very new TL). So, in the end he used the PIAA switch, which he mounted, on the left side of the steering column.

In the end, I am very happy with my fogs (they really look great), and would take the PIAA’s over anything that ACURA could provide (assuming they actually make a fog light kit available in the future – not likely in my opinion). The installation, which took only about 2 hours, cost me under $300 (including the fog lights).

Let me know if you would like any additional details.

Regards,

Greg S

Most of us purchased the Accord's Wiring Harness. That way it plugs in directly. Parts with 2 relays and fuse link cost about $100.00.
