Final Decision on Springs..help
Final Decision on Springs..help
Ok after previous posted threads and soem extensive searching and researching, I've concluded that the most cost effective way to lower the car would be to go with Comptech sicne you dont have to change the Shocks.
Now I dont plan on getting new rims or tires, and am giong to stick with stock setup, and have an OEM Body Kit on and would like to know from people out there who have this setup and if you can comment on ride quality? And any pics by any chance?? I would love to see pics!
Also, I was going to buy a used comptech springs, has 8000 miles on it, do you gues recommend that or no?

I have H&R Sports and I have a completely even drop all around. Wheel well follows the contour of the tire and there's a 1 1/2 finger gap up front and 1 finger gap in the rear. I LOVE IT!!
With Comptech, it would give it a raked look (or so I've heard) and not as low as the H&R Sports.
I would recommend H&R Sports.

The used Comptechs should be fine as long as the previous owner didn't cut them. Because the Comptechs are made specifically (almost) for our vehicles, no modification of the springs should be necessary.
I had a 2002 TL-P with TL-S 17" wheels and didn't change the shocks. The ride was great! Some on this site will recommend changing out the shocks because the stocks will wear prematurely. However, why not use them until they wear, THEN switch? That was my plan.
The Comptechs do give a raked appearance, and I happened to like it a lot--it made that car look a lot more aggressive.
I'll find the thread with my old TL's pix for you and stick it in this message later.
Edit: Linky

Yeah if you could do that .. that would be great!!!
H&R Sports provide a nice and even low drop.....i did not have to change the shocks on my car. The ride quality is something you definetly sacrifice, but i got used to it after a while. Its still not nearly as bad as some other cars when you drop them. Heres a few pics of my car...
Hope this helps...

For Diamond Type-S & Purde Adrenaline, how harsher are the H&R Sports than the H&R OEM Sports???
P.S. Diamond Type-S .. I love your car...stock, yet HOT HOT HOT!
Almost looks like mine...excecpt the spoiler and cleared headlights (damn you) :p

If you buy used Comptech springs, I would ask if he has them marked left and right. New springs are tagged with spring rates. The higher rated spring goes on the drivers side. This would be a plus.

Almost looks like mine...excecpt the spoiler and cleared headlights (damn you) :pAs for the Ride quality between the Sports and the OEM's, i'm sure the H&R Sports are noticeably harsher, it's an inch more drop i believe. After a while you really can't tell the difference, but you have to be careful with the factory kit and the H&R sports, i've scraped the front lip once (damnit) when i wasnt paying attention.
P.S. - PM Mr. , he'll clear your lights for ya with no worries.
Your my big brother (considering I'm 19)
I will be probably sending my headlights soon. Just haven't gotten around to taking my headlights off. Oh and BTW, I asked you if the H&R Sports were harsher than the OE Sports cause' I have a set of the OE Sports sitting in my room. I am still deciding whether to put them on or not.
I have OE springs on now....they are NEAR OEM ride quality....the sports will definitely make ur ride harsher.....the oe is a subtle drop which i liked with my 18's....but since i downgraded to 17's....i want a bit more of a drop......im willing to sacrifice being extra careful around bumps and the like.....whereas with the OE's...i had no worries of scraping even with a kit...

As for the OE Springs, put em' on if you want better ride quality, and no worries on scraping. Otherwise sell em' off and invest in some Sports or something along those lines.

As for my springs, I'll probably keep them around because I know I'll want to put them on later :p

Diamond Type S.. your car looks great!! Pics were amzing!! Maybe if there is a meet sometime u can take me for a ride in your car to see how harsh those springs really are. Im into looks and comfort quality so if it is too harsh than I prolly won't do it. But I would like to see how the comptechs are too!
Used springs are a pretty safe bet since there's not much that can go wrong with them.
Ride IS slightly bouncier than stock but less harsh than H&R sports. If you've got the budget then you really should upgrade your shocks at the same time for maximum performance. If not then you're doing it primarily for cosmetics which is fine.
You may want to look into the newest model of H&R sports (not the accord ones). Not sure if H&R simply rebadged them but it's worth looking into.
