Engine/TCS Lights

Yesterday I noticed that my Engine Malfunction & TCS Lights came on while driving home from work. I think the cold weather could have something to do with it. When I got home I turned off the car and restarted it and the TCS light did not come back on. However, the Engine light stayed on. I checked the manual and it stated that the Engine light indicates a problem with the emissions system and the light will not reset until the third driving trip if the problem has gone away. Has anyone had any experiences with something like this? Any thoughts?

mine turned on last night. I called Park Ave and he just told me to reset the light. Turn the car off, push and hold the trip and reset buttons down, while holding the buttons, turn your car on. Continue to hold until the maint req light goes off. The car runs fine, he told me that light turns on at 7500 mile regarless of when you do an oil change. Since I got a new tranny at 30,000 miles they never reset the light. Everything was done at 30k so it just turned on last night. I'm not too worried about it.

It's not just for the emission. It can be anything. Bring it back to the dealer or mechanic shop. You need OBD reader to pull the faulty code to find out what's wrong. Good luck.

when those 2 lights came on on mine it had something to do with carbon build up in the manifold. i had the same situation with the lights. it took the dealer like less than an hour to fix

Mine just came on too. I am gonna call the dealer tomorrow. Anyone know what the difference between the two lights are.. The engine malfunction and the one that comes on ever certain amount of kilometers. I don't know which one just came on. What do they look like?

Sorry for the stupid question.

Engine and TCS light together (transmission failure). sorry

Make sure you get a read out fromt the dealer. I think is code 721 or in the 700 series. it makes both the engine and TCS come on.

What are the warning signs of a transmission failure besides the lights? anything I should be looking for? Hopefully, if that is the problem, the extended warranty will apply to my car.

That's not the only reason. When I had both TCS & engine check light came on, it was just cylinder misfire.

True....but this just sounds like a transmission. I haven't had my engine misfire, but i have heard about it.
