I own a 2000 TL which has a really annoying piston slap in the #5 cylinder. This has been verified by an Acura tech. I have the opportunity to purchase a complete engine and tranny from a 99 TL with 116K for $800. How can I be sure the engine will work in my 2000? Any issues I should watch out for? The rest of my 2000 is in perfect shape.

 

The 99 Tranny is a 4sp, the 00 tranny is a 5sp. Are you intending to use the 99 tranny?

 

Keep Looking. I got a 2003 type-s motor with 36k on it for 800 bucks. Also the 99 is different form the 2000-2003. Look for one of those.

 

I can't be done. the pcm is different. the engine and cabin wire harness is different. also the 99 has a different engine.

And they said a 6 speed conversion couldnt be done for under 10K. I did it for half that. Every thing is possible. Question is WHY would you down grade.

 

You are better off getting a whole type-s engine with a tranny. I doubt that'd be much of trouble to get it in and running right.
