ENGINE SWAp
lol
Ok, here's a car Q:
It looks like Comptech is THE name for Acuras. Are there any other makers of FI for the Acura?
I read the sticky regarding Comtech making their SC to be safe for everyday driving which I completely agrees with. Instead of an engine swap, why not a SC with a smaller pulley that will make higher PSI?
For example, how many HPs will a Comptech SC with a smaller pulley, an IC, and a piggyback engine management system (if needed) make?
Wouldn;t this be a whole lot simpler solution than an engine swap?
Also, with a LOT more HP, can the stock drivetrain handle the additional HP/torque?

So, back to cars. No, the NSX engine won't work for many reasons. You're better off getting the '05 RL engine, it has more torque anyway and maybe (just maybe) you could do an AWD swap.

I believe Jackson Racing and Greddy do FI for Hondas/Acuras.
thnx fo all the info im still thinkin bout jus swappin my whole engine out n startin wit sumthin freshh n jus go all out. like for a year im just wurkin on the inside n performance. n the exterior in like two years and hopefully by then ready to kill sum car shows. n im 16 wit a tl 13$grand paid cash wit 52k miles on a 01 ssm wit ebony so dont hate to all the elders just cuz i can make sum money

That will cut 100lbs or more off body weight. Then get 18" light weight rims and lower car to allow it to handle the extra HP better or you will have some very dangerous torque steer issues!
CUZ I CAN DO THAT-lil flip
If you got a more powerful engine, you wouldn't necessarily need a new throttle body. I think a couple of guys here have put CL TB's on their TL because the CL throttle body is larger. They regulate the amount of airflow coming through the CAI to the engine. The more you press the gas pedal, the wider the throttle body opens, letting more air to the engine so it can accelerate faster.

And why would you list your sunroof visor being removed as a mod..

i am taking my mud guards off, is that a mod too???
getting less wind drag
and he has 10 mods on the list that he doesn't have any of them
Its a prefectly good question to ask because what the heck is 16 yr driving around in a new TL and thinking about engine swapping???.....he should be in school learning 1-2-3's!
Anyways...you can get modded engines from different tuners like Mugen or those racing teams that you watch on TV.

if your going to do modding on the scale you want your best bet is building a ehngine out of many parts. do a 3.5 conversion with type-s heads and intake. forged internals, 3.5 crank, comptech sc upgraded pulley and a velocity recources tranny (im sure there are a few lil mods ive left out)

There aren't any other compatible engines for your chassis.
Only J series V6's will work.

They sell crate engines from Edlebroke, so order one, and get someone to install it for you. What cool mod!

a 3.5L conversion (mdx block + type-s heads/cams + custom pistons) will produce more power than a NSX engine.
btw- speakin of engines, i never figured out why the 03 TL-S has a 260 hp engine, and the acura's "flagship sedan" as they call it, has a 225 hp v6 with only 231lb ft of torque....i mean yea it's a bigger engine, but at far as output, it's not good....and plus, the RL (with nav) is almost 4000lbs!
i'm guess it's not fast at all....anyone drive/beat the hell out of a 03 RL? just wondering.

I will say this though, the RL motor has some nice low end grunt (sub 3000 rpms)
And yes, I have extensive time behind an RL.
