Engine light blinking just after startup

Okay, the check engine light blinks for about 5 seconds after all the other lights are off and I'm driving. Is it just a general service light that needs to be reset? Thanks for the help!

Is it due to the oil change not being reset? I had that happen to me a few times since the dealer forgot to do it.

check engine or maint req light? aren't those two different lights? you can reset the maint req light by holding the two buttons on the dash, turn the car on and just hold the buttons down until the lights turn off.

On the right side of the gauge cluster, you will see "Select" and "Reset".

Hold those two buttons together.

Insert key into ignition.

Turn it two clicks, do not start the car.

Wait a few seconds, and the light will go off.

Welcome to the forum, by the way.

Welcome to the forum, by the way.

This is basically an oil change timer.. It notifies the owner something needs to be done to maintain the engine... nothing is wrong. Reste this every time you change your oil, I usually change my oil prior tothe light coming on, but if I ever forget, it is a good reminder..
