endlink question
endlink question
searched the forum but didn't really answer my question.... those of you that have replaced the sways themselves. The endlinks seem to not want to come out I've use the squeeze method put in an allen wrench 5mm, still the allen wrench seems to just spin when I use the wrench but when I try to hold the allen wrench and push the wrench it doesn't want to budge. how the heck did you guys hold the allen wrench and turn the wrench?
well when i do it i use a craftsman allen bit on a 3/8" ratchet handle. to turn the nut i like using the craftsman "gear wrenches". i find that works great because the handles are long enough for me to hold and get some torque on. is that what your asking or did i miss the point?
if you've stripped the allen opening of the endlink stud then you may have to employ vice grips to hold the stud until you can back the nut off enough to cut the stud in half. the stock endlinks never give me good luck. i find i need to replace them each time i touch them. moog makes better replacements.
ps - what's the "squeeze method" for putting in an allen wrench? i think i'm missing something there.

I think I may have confused you a bit, sorry.... I meant the allen wrench has to be held while the wrench is turned correct? I used the squeeze method to turn the open ended wrench but, I need two hands for that so.....how do I hold the allen wrench and turn the nut with the open ended wrench?
or do I get one of these...http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...seBVCookie=Yes and untighted the bolt while holding onto the nut with an open ended screw?
nevermind I got the 5mm hex bit that fits on a 3/8 ratchet tried to turn it n instantly stripped the inside on the bolt ..so I'm screwed....that nut must be tighted by shrek I spray it with wd40 like three time
Just go with back to the dealer for the endlinks. They've improved the endlinks and now sell them in pairs. They're beefier.
The allen head is to hold the stud in place and use the wrench to loosen the nut. As you found, the allen is not intended to handle that much torque. I used an impact gun to get the nut loose and then wedged the stud in the end of the sway bar to create some friction and to keep it from spinning. The impact gun was able to spin the nut off faster than the stud could turn that way.
Or as others have said, use a pair of vice grips but then you still have to get the nut over the jacked up threads.

sounds like thats honda's plan to do that in the first place so we would have to buy new endlinks
any idea how much the stock endlinks cost for a pair?
wow thats not too bad, now I just have to figure how I'm gonna get these damn sways off they're on there so tight I couldn't even move em with a vise grip pliers holding onto the bolt, now bolt is all jacked up so gonna find a shop to take em off for me or sumthin. The easy part is installation, so hopefully I can find a place. thanks for the info guys

buy new endlinks.
FWIW...
I had the same problem. I thought my endlink was stripped. [thread here]. The tool shop I went to for the bit at 5:05 closed at 5:00 so I was SOL. So I went home and improvised.
got out my old bike repair kit. allen key + vice grip for more leverage.

tighten (or loosen in your case) while holding a wrench on the bolt

as you can see, the allen key fits through the wrench just long enough to fit snugly in the hex bolt on the endlink.
With allen keys you always have to make especially sure that your hex wrench or bit is NOT rounded off but perfectly angled. I've learned this with my bikes, where all the important adjustable parts require allen keys.
A long explanation for a simple solution.
I'll have to do the same thing again when I get new sways... bleh.

, I found only one place on the net that sold Aftermarket endlinks by Moog they're rockauto anyone ever heard of em? parts america has em too but for 26 a pop
I went to the dealer n they said 100.00 for the rear endlinks since they come in a pair now I'd get em else where but, only other places are online. acura wanted 198.99 installed plus since my rear endlinks are fuked they're gonna charge me an extra 100.00 which is 300 for an install

another way would be to unbolt the bracket that the endlinks are bolted to.
it would be alot easier to work on the frozen endlink with the swaybar and endlinks off the car.
