Thumbs up Endless brake pads installed

I had my Endless front brake pads installed this afternoon. I must admit I didn't know what to expect as I've never done this before. Wow! The Endless brake pads have a firmer feel than the stock brake pads. When you step on the brakes, you know it is not stock. Stopping power is good, although it wasn't much of a test since it was bumper to bumper traffic going home. As always, Tim was helpful in answering all my questions. A quick note to all who want to get these pads:

1) the Endless brake pads I got is the Vita Nuova Non Abestos Competition Brake Pads (and not the Type NA-Y) as advertised on this site. Tim assured me that it is similar product. BTW the Endless pads I got is for the Acura NSX! Talk about major stopping power!
2) I had a mechanic install the Endless brake pads, and if you get these pads, please note that at the top of the pads there are two "bumps" that must be sanded down in order for the pads to fit properly. These brake pads do not fit perfectly, so if you plan on doing this yourself, make sure you have some sort of sander to bring down the bumps. It's hard to explain, but if you get it you will see what I mean.
3) the brake pads itself must be sanded down briefly or you will get some brake noise. I had absolutely no noise, which is great.
4) it is recommended that you resurface your rotors. If you don't the pads may have brake noise.
4) I was told by a fellow TLer (BCInspire) that the Endless brake pads will become real good after about 500 KM. I guess there must be a breaking in period for the pads. I'll report back and let you all know if this is the case.

I got my Endless pads from Tim. Check the brakes section of this website for price. I had my rear brake pads replaced with Acura brake pads too. Total time the shop charged me was 2 hours for labour, cost of total labour Cdn $142.62 (not including price of rear brake pads which I bought myself).

Sam, I got my Acura brake pads from Richmond Acura. I know the salesman there (the one you said didn't know jack), and got the staff price. Try beating $66.17 incl. taxes! I had my front/rear brake pads installed at Faithful Auto Centre on 1st Ave (near 1st Ave and Main St. ). So yah, they'll know how to install Endless!

All I know is that he's OK. I've tried calling him a few times, and he's either not picking up his cell phone or his phone is off. Hopefully he will come back to this site and let us know how he is.

I don't know how good (or bad) greenstuff brake pads are. I've heard good and bad reports about it. I decided to go with Endless because I've only heard good things about it. The only down side with Endless is the price - for a set of Endless, you could probably get both front/rear Greenstuff.

Oh, one more thing I forgot to mention about the Endless - after you briefly sand down the pads, make sure you wipe them clean of any debris before you install them. If you don't you may get brake noise.

I've noticed something about the Endless after driving them all day yesterday - the longer you drive (and brake), the better the braking becomes. It's like you need to warm them up to get the most out of them. I think that's great.

Patrick,

I believe with the pads you have, they would perform best once they heat up to a certain temperature, so what you say makes sense. I think that's why some competition pads are only recommended used on the tracks, as they are only best once the temperature gets to a level that may not happen on street driving.

You are correct, Sam. Although the Endless pads I got says they are for street use, they are definitely more suited for the novice race track driver (the Endless pamphlet says its for street and novice track racer). I've found out that after warming up a little, they do perform well. If you're driving for less than 15 min, you might not see any noticeable improvement over stock brakes. It all depends on how much you drive and how much you brake.
