Embarrasing for a TL

So I was driving my TL with the wife to pick up a mod x-box, Just happen to be comenting on honda's reliabilty and such, we made a quick stop at the front of Erin Mills Mall (mississauga, Canada) to withdraw some money (i waited in the car). When my wife came, it just didn't start!!, dammmmmmm, what the..#$#@#!!. well it turned out to be that i needed a battery boost!!! Acura tl 2002 asking for a boost??????,

That sucks!!!, anyways had to buy cable since all the people i asked had none since this "does not happen very often!!!", got a boost and we were on our way. Shame shame.

Question: everything is working fine now BUT the one touch up/down feature for the driver side window does not work anymore, it does go up and down normally . Can someone help me with this?????

Thanks,

The battery will not last forever! Did you shut off the car and leave something on? Was the key on with the radio playing? All these these things will drain your battery. Just because it is a TL doesn't make the battery any different from another car. The Acura battery under normal usage will last about 3 to 4 years. The reset for the one touch window is to roll down and hold down the button for 2 seconds, then roll up, and hold for two seconds. Hope that helps!

Lower the window, hold down the button for about 10 seconds, then raise the window, hold down the button for 10 seconds. It will work again. I just needs to be reprogrammed.

As for the battery, mine did the same thing. I got pulled over a couple of weeks ago, and I shut off the car, with the interior lights on and the hazard lights going. After about 5 minutes, the lights started flickering, and the car did not start again. My buddy had to drive out 20 minutes to give me a jump, since I was in the middle of nowhere. Mine's an '03, so don't feel bad.

I do think that my system had something to do with it. Although my car's constantly running between 13.9v - 14.2v, I think the battery might be on its way out. I might upgrade to Optima Yellow Top pretty soon.

More than anything, check the indicator every other day to ensure power.

i was eating lunch in my car once, had the radio on, after about 15 min a speaker went out, then both front ones. Tried starting car and it sounded like it was choking. So i left it for about 40 min, came back, it started. Weather was cold, but still...

i've got 45000 on my 03, dont think battery should be goin that quick

thats right, and i had my tl off and the only thing electrical i had going was the emergency lights, this was for like 5 minutes. A 2002, the battery should of lasted more than that, a 03 did the same thing... at least yours started and Pure adrenaline what did your buddy say when you told him you needed a boost??
got to be buying a new one now i guess.

Thanks for the responses, Pure Adrenaline, the 10 second up/down thing work!!!! i was affraid to take it to the stealers.

No problem.

What did my buddy say?? I just called him up and asked him to come out and give me a jump. He was like, "OK, where are you? I'll be there in 20."

He and I always work on our cars together ('00 Type-R), so this sort of thing is not a big deal.

Years ago I worked for a security company doing mall security all over town. I was called to one mall where a Rolls Royce apparently broke down in front of the main entrance. When I got there, did the customary greet the owners and offered help, blah-blah... The rich folks did not even want me near the car. I offered to boost but they declined, and apparently "help is on the way".
The owners were picked up by a limo then a tow truck came and boosted the car but there were other problems 'coz it still won't start. They had a flatbed there in no time and loaded that baby away (covered to conceal the car).

They said a Rolls never breaks down and stalls, but sometimes it just "fails to proceed!" LMAO.

TL260Power take your battery into sears or autozone and they load test your battery and u can get a pretty good idea how much life is left in it, i got an 00TL just changed my battery 2 months ago at 60k, It didnt die but i noticed corrosion around the positive connector and its been 5 years anyways.

Honda neither make their seats, or windows etc, they are sourced out from other manufacturers and assembled in a "honda" plant and put their Honda logos. everywhere is like that.

A fairly new and upscale car should not have things like this happen. Ofcourse they do, nothing is 100 persent, just that, it just so happen that i was commenting about Acura reliabilty and how it would never leave you stranded.... bla bla. , then asking for for a boost from my undestructible 02 car, just not fair

Anyways, when i got home i cleaned my battery, then i put baking soda and water. I am good to go but will be taking it for testing soon

very easy to boost an acura, but still, when my car is outside overnight (in winter) next morning it's a little sluggish starting....about 3 days in garage and it's the same....never compared a different battery like yellow top optima to see if what i'm experiencing is normal.

in cold weather the battery can lose 50% of the strength in just one night

You might also want to check the alternator. Might not be charging the battery right.
