Know why my brembos are squealing!

I bought my 04 6MT NBP Navi in Mar 08 from Carmax. After i bought the car, i noticed the brakes squealled under light pressure. I took it back to get fixed 3 times. Well i am tired of the squealing as it is VERY embarrasing, so i ordered new Drilled/Slotted Rotoras along with the H2 ceramics.

Well i thought i would check the pads today just to see how much pad life i have left and to also get familiar on how to take the pads off before i get ready to install the rotors and pads. When i got the pad off, i noticed they were cheap A$$ Duralast pads and not even the good ones!

WTF, that is totally UNSAT! Now i know why my brakes sound like booty! Well this goes to show that Carmax Service Dept is not very honest as they told me they installed OEM pads. Oh well, problem will be fixed soon.

Vent Over!

Hey mine's the same way!!! and the dealer told me i have Duralasts as well!

I'm sorry for jacking your thread ssmtl2nv, but mine is squeeling as hell and you're right, it is annoying.

The car I bought was certified and i've driven it 3 weeks, no signs of the squealing going down...

Since the car is certified and is under warranty, should I tell the dealer to replace them?

I did mention it to them the last time I was in, but they said the brake pads were practically brand new so it would be hard to "work it in the warranty".

i would just get some new pads. I think most all dealers will take shorcuts to save money. How are the rotors? If they have any ridging score marks etc. you may want to just get new rotors and pads. Those Duralast pads SUCK A$$! Im not sure how the Duralast CMAX pads are but the Semi-Metallic bullshit they put on my car is messed up!

Yeah I may have to complain to the dealer, and then have them upgrade it to something worthy and i'll maybe pay a little more. The guy mentioned something about using Acura's OEM brakepads.

In any case, my above reply was not to steal your post bdogg77, i mistaken it for for ssmtl2nv's.

Approx. how much is it for me to replace the rotors & pads?

I just ordered some drilled/slotted rotors along with the Rotora H2 Ceramic pads, which is supposed to be one of the best setups, for 402.00 shipped from exelerate. They are a vendor on Azine.

Squealing is generally caused by not properly bedding in the pads, or not bedding them in at all. If you have the manual TL, of course you have the Brembo front brakes. When you go to a different pad than the OEM units shipped with the car and are not having the rotors turned, you should first clean the rotors, then bed in the new pads. This does three major things. 1) Helps to gas out the new pads. 2) Hastens the mating of the pad surfaces to the rotors. 3) Deposits pad material onto the rotors.

Do this correctly and you should not experience any squealing.

I have an automatic and I have no clue whether the dealer turned the rotors or not. In fact, I know so little about these stuff, I might actually open her up and take a look sometime this weekend. I found a lube that's supposedly lessens/prevents squealing from Autozone, I don't know if it works. Might give that a try as well.
