Dude, try opening the sun roof window while the sun shade is covering it - doesn't it pull it back on its own?

no, im talking about the sunshade for the rear window. the one in the back, not the back seat door windows or the sunroof. have you guys seen the i30 with a eletronically rear controlled mesh sunshield? ok...i guess not. maybe i'll see if i can buy it from an infiniti dealer.

The Infiniti has it. Maybe the next generation of TL will have it. It's definitely a nice-to-have on a hot summer day.

You will have to get rid of the ND Woofer if you have one. I don't think there is anyway that the infiniti motorized screen will fit with the sub back there. You will have to either find a rear deck from an older TL tha will fit? or Make the infiniti rear deck fit, either way, I bet it will be a major PITA. Actually the best scenario is probably to look at the Inspire one, and see if the Infiniti one can some how fit into that deck or setup.

I have the Inspire (manual) sunshade and it works just peachy. Yeah, it would be nice it was motorized, but it's fine the way it is...

Actually, a power one does exist for around $70, although it's not specifically made for the TL... it should fit nicely. Check out this topic from the CL board and look for a post from Zapata about 3 or 4 down...

That automatic sunshade on the CL board looks like it's got the two arms permanently bent even when the shade is up. It's going to end up blocking your rear view. I dunno... although it's powered, those arms look pretty annoying.

And it's battery powered! It runs off of 3 9V batteries. What's the big idea here?

My thoughts exactly! I think it's a cool concept to have auto, but I'm happy with my inspire sunshade and it doesn't have two annoying arms in the way....

Daverman:
How is it attached, from the image it looks like the base is mounted to the sides and top hooks to hold it up. I believe its from Value Car Audio at http://value-caraudio.com/Merchant2/...y_Code=INPARTS and I have seen another at http://www.autoshades.com/products/complete.html - Installed on the back window deck using an internal tension-based mechanism. Extends upwards to 22" to hooks mounted at the top corners of the window.

Daverman;
I notice your picture doesn't match the picture of the sunshade on Value's website. Your picture looks closer to the pictures
on Solar e-Clips.

If this is true we could save some buck$. What's your opinion?

I'm glad I don't have to worry about that. I have limo-black tint and all my passengers never complain about the sun coming through and frying them alive.

Why don't you guys get a 35% tint on the back?
I have this and it is as good or better than adding another potential squeaky thing on the rear window...

I got my sunshades from ValueTL. I've never used Solar e-Clips, but it looks like they may have suction cups to hold up the rear shades. The Inspire sunshades come with clips that snap into a groove in the roof metal.

Also, be careful when ordering 3rd-party sunshades: the roller bar has to clear the subwoofer assembly.

It isn't tint, its actually laminated glass (or plastic, depending on the application). It isn't available in America yet, but my shop will be getting some prototypes in to our design center for testing and R&D in the home market. It's made in Korea, but my boss went to school with the US Importer, so we have an in . If all goes well, you'll peobably see this stuff pop up all over the place in a couple years. LCD Glass is available now, but it's about $250.00 per sq. ft. and is really fragile and never perfectly clear. The SPDI stuff will probably be around $50.00 per sq. ft., more durable and, unlike the LCD glass, DIMMABLE! When they start doing window and sunroof replacements (it is in their plans to do so), I'll hook tim up with the 411 so we can all rejoice in this fine Korean engineering.

Imagine being able to arm your car alarm and completely blak out ALL of the windows! :wow: Or at night, clear them out so you can see better on your way to the hang out, then dim them down while cruising the strip!

I would get 35% tint if I could but D.C. has strict tint laws for passenger cars. The limit o ftint on a passenger car registerd in Washington D.C. is 75% on the sides & about 50% the rear. If you have a minivan or SUV you can get thru with the factory tint on the sides & rear. This is stupid because most vans & Suv factory tint is darker. The Minivans or SUVs can't have any tint on the drvers or passenger windows. The police will not mess with you unless its very dark. But all cars trucks, busses, D.C. Govt.& Federal Govt. vehicles & taxicabs have to go thru Inspection. The regular passenger cars & vans go every 2yrs.
They not only check emissions they check lights, windows, brakes tires, tags not fixed to vehicle ect. So for example if you have a window that won't roll down you fail inspection. They also look for tint on the windows. They have a punch card with all the info of the vehicle & there is a box for tint. I got 51% all around & will have to take off my sides in a few days to pass. I have had my car for 2ys & its my month to go thru inspection.
