electrical issue or battery?

I don't know if you guys have experienced this problems before. Just earlier tonight I started the car and notice all the lights in the car( dashboard, stereo lights ) is a little dim and not as bright as usual. Now, the weird part is if I turn off the headlights then the all the lights in the car are brighter. The car do have a hesitation when I start up lately( take longer then usual), so I figure this could be a battery problem? Or it could be an electrical problem( like car that has been in flood ). I bought this car used a few months back(52k miles) from a dealer.

One more thing...
The clock in the car should be lit up at night so you can see right?

Since I bought mine...there is no light in the clock at night...so I have to keep turning the light inside the car on to see it...very inconvenient.

As for your clock light, you have to remove the clock to replace the bulb

Im having the same problem with my clock lighting up. Was it hard taking out the clock and replacing the bulb? As far as the light in the dash it might be a fuse under the hood that blew. The fuse is a 17.5AMP I believe. Just go to local part store and ask for a fuse kit.

Its not a fuse that blew. Its the light. Its a semi common issue. Its not that hard to replace.

Hey, fsttyms1. Thanks for the advice. But what do you mean by "semi common". How often this kind of issue happens? Never happen in the lifetime of my other cars( accord and celica ). I mean the light in the dashboard and stereo is still ON but very dim, I can still see everything but it just odd. It used to be very bright. I though there might a an adjustment somewhere that you can adjust the brightness or something?

So what do you recommend I do now? Replace the light? Any advice on how to get that started? Should I get the bulb at the dealer?

the adjustment is to the lower left of the steering wheel, it's a little wheel know thing that you rotate over

I was talking to the poster above me about the CLOCK light needing to be replaced as to being semi common.

As to why your lights are dim there is a dimmer switch to the left of the wheel on the knee panel. Make sure that its not adjusted to dim
