Is it easy to install the ww body kit?

I just got my body kit yesterday. I looked at a few places where to get it painted. I am getting prices around 400-450 range. Now as far as intalling it, it would cost me more. I got one quote for 700 painting and installing. Now damn thats too much. So i ask if its easy to intall by myself.. or with friend. From the looks of it I might need a second hand.

Does anybody have the ww kit on their car? did you get it installed or did u install it yourself? Was it hard if you did it by yourself? sorry for so many questions.. I am still gonna search more body shops around here to see if i can get a good price. 700 is just plain sick.. any help i greatly appreciate it

pay the $700, b/c it will look alot better if its done the right way by the prof's. Twikin the kit might be needed to have it fit tight.

No, its not worth it. Cut your losses now and ship the body kit to me eheheheh

Just get it painted for now. Try the install yourself, its not all that hard, its just a pain in the ass. Worst case scenario you end up taking it somewhere to get it installed anyway so what do you have to loose?

i've not installed the ww kit before but i don't see how it can be much harder than the oem. i just installed mine a few days ago, and as time-consuming as it was i am glad i saved probably like $100 bucks for install.

i do recommend having a friend to help you out though... especially with the removal of the stock side skirts... that shit is so tough to pull out!

also a jack would definately be useful too.

for some reason i dont think the install would cost me just 100 bucks. 450 was quoted for painted only but installing it too its 700 total. SO 250 is the charge for installing..

Hey dude...man i got the exact same situation here.

Got my WW kit like a month ago.. i ask around all the body shop quote me around $700 for paint and install...i cant pull that much money outa my ass now...freaking work my ass off....

It's just sad to see that beautiful kit lay in the garage.

O the 3M tape you mentioned, i found that attached at the inside of my kit, which means it comes with the tape.

Hey i did found a body shop that quote me $400 for paint and install. Actually he gave me 2 different price one is $600 and $400, he said the paint quality is slightly different. Which i wont care.

If you want the number, PM me i can give it to you.

Damn...hope i can get my kit install soon...

beemerkiller: yea i did find the 3m tape inside the kit.

well the update is: Ok guys tell me if this is a good deal

I found a guy who does a good job on paint job and installing. He said he was going to paint the ww body kit and ww flushmount spoiler (which i also got) and installing all of it for 700. Is that a good price?

To paint and install for him will take about 3 days . And he does a good job. SOmone recommended me to him.

Is this a good deal?

WOAH...700 to paint that+install...hehe. R U SURE?

that kit needs some mad priming before its painted (baking, some chemicals, sanding and hardening),...this alone should go for $400 w/ labor, etc. Then painting...depending on the quality/reputation of shop should run atleast another $500-$700.

the installation is VERY EASY. i'll guide you thru it if you want. you'll need new 3m double sided tape (the one with kit sucks), the screws that come with the kit a drill.

and then the spoiler should be in the $100-200 range install + paint, no priming needed.

but dayuuum, 700 for paint and install this kit is INSANE...go 4 it if you trust his work.

it'll take around 2-4hours depending on your skills...but its very easy...i gotta WW kit on my '99 so i'd know.

i bought it painted for 995 off ebay a while ago from ROC-Z, he's not selling anymore though. but a friend bought it for 499shipped unpainted and spent $1000 paiting/priming/mounting/labor+tax...+ watever his oem spoiler cost.

know this... what you have is raw urethane. Its floppy, soft and impossible to get some paint on it because it'll crack fast. I dont know much, but they had to "bake it" and do all this stuff to it before they painted it. Lets look at numbers, about $200 worth of labor time was put into the priming.

After he got it back, the kit was definetly harder and it seemed a bit smaller.

Before you mention any of this to your paint mechanic, ask him if this material needs any priming or prepping before he paints it...im sure he'll figure it out...The price he said seems kinda O.K. but well into the cheap side.

peace.

so installing the kit is something that you can DIY rt? I have a WW kit lay in my garage coz no money to have them paint and install. Thinking if i can install myself may save me some money, around $100 i guess.

The only problem is that we have to drill it right? Is it hard to do? Or just simply buy one of those drill kit from home depot then i can get it started. And do i have to jack up the car and take off the wheels?? or i can drill with wheels on??

I did some research someone said that it's is hard to get it perfect straight when instailling them. Was that a big problem that bother you??

Thanks in Advance

Yeah they can extrapolate the exact color based on the paint code without a problem. Onle problem with doing it by paint code is that over time the factory paint fades, and depending on the current condition of your paint, the newly painted body kit could end up looking different than the rest of the car. Most body shops like to custom mix the paint to match the car perfectly...

just unscrew your Gas cap and leave it in the shop so he can match the color.

Meanwhile you can drive you car around with that part missing, and cover it with tape or watever.
