Thumbs up Dynoed TL-S yesterday

i went to a dyno place yesterday and had the car dynoed on a Dynojet dyno. didnt get a chance to scan the sheet yet, but I got 232hp and 197ft-lb of torque. i was pretty happy with the results. my HP dyno looks virtually identical to the Comptech CL-S dyno with headers. so for all of you wondering if they were honest about it - they were! kinda made my day. also, i believe the CAI didnt make a diff since i was standing still, and the fan they have blowing at the car is not strong enough to make a diff, feels like if u stick ur hand out the window cruising at about 10-15mph. i'll post the scan of the dyno soon. also found it pretty funny that the guy couldnt believe i was making ~290hp at the fly wheel. i told him that the average loss for our TLs is at least 20% and more like 22%, he said Dynojet recommends an absolute top loss of 17% for fwd autos.. which as we've seen from other dynos is not true, we lose a good 20-23%... stupid inefficient tranny! wait, i take it back.. dont wanna upset it and have it break down on me :p ... but anyway, just wanted to share the dyno with all those curious

Wow that is good. 232hp at the wheels is more like 310hp at the flywheel on TL's I have seen many TL/CL dyno's with 22-25% loss.

sweet.

You might be one of the lucky ones. Off the manuf line, some cars are just faster and some are just slower. The 260hp is just an average of some sort, but dayum, looks like you came out lucky with your TL!

Excellent numbers -- I'm anxious to see your graph. I'm going to get around to dyno'ing mine soon and I'd be happy with numbers like that.

Great numbers Zodiak!

BTW, a regular TL-S should dyno ~200-205 hp right? Since you have all these engine mods, it went up to 232 hp. Damn, can't wait to get headers.

I wouldn't say he's lucky... the numbers look like everyone else's. The stock TL-S dynos around 200hp to the wheels. He has headers and an intake, so 232hp to the wheels is about right.....

I wouldn't mind going with you, I'm in the same area. It would give me a chance to test my CL-S.

wow...that is a significant difference...especially the torque. OK, so most numbers are consistant except for CrzyAcura's

i thought it was kinda strange that the torque falls off like that also, but i havnt seen too many other dynos with my config, so i dunno... and i actually did 3 runs, the first one, they had TCS on and the guy ran in 1st, so it got screwed up, but second and third were virtually identical.

Nice! Very close to 540iA numbers.

I think 540's pull like 230-235HP stock, but sh!t load of torque though....like 270 lbs.

Congrats...

BTW, why are your torque numbers so low...in my TL with I/H/E/VAFC, I pulled like 198lbs. of torque and I think most CLS with Headers are pulling over 210 lbs...

Yes we do. what makes you think we don't?

The problem is that manufacturers advertised with flywheel horsepower and not wheel(tire) horsepower. Dyno's only show wheel horsepower and you have to do the match to get the flywheel horspower. So 260hp = around 200hp at the wheels. That is 23% loss.
