i used prewired superflux LEDS. they look like this. theyre sold prewired with resisors as well so the only thing to do is hook up the wiring and hook up the LEDS and done deal. they look great and buying them in bulk is worth it too

oh snap! What's the wiring config? (relays etc) This would be a clean mod to build a DIY for. Now that I see this, I think i'm going to do it. haha

Looks great though! Nice work!

I did mine as well and it hooks into the dome light so when you unlock it comes on and fades as the dome does.
Front door lights provide power for the back doors.
02TLSfan helped me with mine and has done his also.

Great looking mod.

Beautiful mod. So... would you say that a person who is an extreme novice could follow the DIY and do it without much problems?

Or is a fair bit of knowledge required to get the job done?

It's plain and simple if you check out the DIY that CaliChris did. It's very straight forward and all you have to do is just follow the instructions when wiring and you should be fine. It's easier to do it with two people though. A helping hand always speeds up the process. There are no relays to screw with. Everything taps directly into wires you already have. The only B!t@h work is when it comes down to having to wire the rear doors. you basically tap the same wire as your courtesy light and you run it to the back to provide power to the rear door light. We're going to attempt this on my friend's AV6 tomorrow cuz we're having that meet at the Mondavi Center in Davis

Best advice of all, check all your wiring! LEDS only light up one way so its important to mark what color is what
or else you'll just be screwing yourself over when you put everything back together. I fortunately didnt have this problem, but when you rush, you're bound to screw up. set up some time for you to do it. My garage has two shop lights so we do it at night cuz there's nowhere we have to be.

Its very common sense and straight forward. If you could follow instructions, you could do this mod very easily. to make my work a lot easier, instead of using electrical tape for a lot of the parts, i used electrical glue. The other thing is when i needed to tap into my wires, I like it to be clean and secure, so i bought self stripping taps, and i had sometimes even 3 wires connected to this rather than two. the stock wires you tap into are small so it gives room to tap one on top of it. this is what i used. http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=676 you can find them at places like radioshack. i bought a 16 pack at walmart for like 4 bucks.

Just wondering, do these lights come on when you turn on your dome light or only when you unlock the car?

The way calichris wired the LED's up, the only time they come one is when you open your door (any door) when you unlock your car if it was previously unlocked and thats about it....if your driving or whatever and turn on your dome light on the inside, it will NOT turn on the door handle lights......I believe I was the 2nd or 3rd person to do this mod when CaliChris first made the DIY so its a good mod to do...just follow each step as he says....better to use white in my opinion and not too bright either...keep the MCD of the LEDs a bit low...but now too high
