Smile Do you have problems with remote radio switch? Heres the fix

My remote radio switch (the one on the left hand side of the steering wheel) has a mind of its own. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it works great. But most of the time it does what it wants, which may or may not coincide with what I asked it to do. I set out to repair this little problem of ours, and it's quite easy. I put together a PDF to help you along. Heres the fix. It should take less than an hour, costs less than 17 bucks and may or may not require the use of an impact wrench. These instructions may also help if you would like to replace your stock steering wheel. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Dealer should take care of this under warranty, supposedly a TSB is out.

I got it working with an aftermarket, there are solutions depending on your headunit.

yea, when I was looking at an after mkt headunit (Alpine) I was looking into some IR replicators. You hook these to the switches on your stearing wheel and then mount the IR transmitters so they are aimed at the IR reciever on the HU.

I used the PAC SWI-X I believe that was the model # and it works "okay" It has a delayed response. But it does work. And it appears if I can figure out the resistances I can program it with anything it like and make more buttons elsewhere.

What causes the airbag to deploy under these conditions? Something located at the airbag or the main SRS unit not receiving a signal from the airbag?
