I only use Chevron, Texaco or 76. I think its there is another threat somewhere about gas quality. But anyways, the biggest difference is just the additives put in. From what I hear, Texaco and 76's pro power additives are really good. Chevron's techron just sounds cool to me . But IMO, Texaco runs really well with my car and improves my mileage by a slight margin.

I put in Chevron Techron Fuel Injection System Cleaner in every 3000 miles, so I just usually fill up at the cheapest station.

Price-Costco normally has them in a 2-pack for around $7. Best deal in town by far.

I use Chevron when i have a chance to use Chevron...I may be a little bias because my family used to own a Chevron Station...Techron rocks and so does the formula that they use... Texaco is ok, as long as it isn't shell...In the long run, most of the major brands are basically the same and differ mainly in the additives they include like Techron...

Cool

Gas is Gas. They all get it from the pipeline. It is the detergent/additives they put in that cleans. There are several that is reputable, Amoco, Texaco, Phillips-66, Conoco. My definition of reputable ones are the ones that passes the 100,000 mile BMW test. Basically what that test is, is they weigh the cylinders and pistons brand new (down to the grams, 3 decimal places), pour gas and run the BMW for 100,000 miles, take the pistons apart look for wear and tear, and weigh it again. The cleaner ones will not accumulate any deposits. The less reputable ones will accumulate alot of deposits (yucky stuff around the pistons) hence 'fail' the test. Consumer reports ran a report back in the early 90's. I have used Phillips (5 tanks, avg. 23mpg) and Conoco (5 tanks avg. 24.5mpg). I am going thru' Amoco now but I think from a power response standpoint I like Conoco better. It seemed more responsive and provides better gas mileage.

Sorry, guys and gals, but the same truck will stop at multiple, different brand gas stations. That means that when you buy Amoco gas, you could've driven across the street to the BP and gotten the same gas. They may put in their own additives when it's pumped into the ground, but otherwise it's the same. Don't believe me? Follow a truck to a few stops one day or ask a driver.

This brings up another point... that you may already know... NEVER pump your gas while the tanks are being filled. The sediment is being stirred up by the fill-pump. You're just askin' to clog up your gas filter in a hurry.

Hell yeah to the no pumping while the tanks are being filled...There's a lot of crap in those tanks just waiting to clog something...

my friend works at a diamond shamrock (probably just in texas??), and i didn't believe what he'd told me until i saw the tanker pulling out the texaco down the street and came to the diamond shamrock to unload. so, i'm assuming this can happen at any station, brandname or not. oh, primetime or something like that did a report on gas quality a while back because a lady complained a certain gas ruined her car...so they did a report and pumped different gas into individual gallon containers...and they made a big deal of conoco's gas having this sediment on the bottom of the gallon of gas from conoco..and a few others...
