Typical service interval

So I got my 2022 RDX a couple months ago, and have put 1800 miles on it in that time. The oil life% on the MID has dropped from 80% to 70%. It would be on pace for at least 10k miles between services (if not far more - we'll see when it drops again), and I am curious if that is typical for this generation? For reference, my previous 1st gen MID would hit 0% in the 7500 mile range when I did a lot of highway commuting, and closer to 5500 when I started working remote and my highway driving dropped significantly.

I have a 2022 RDX as well and last changed the oil on 11/17/23 at 14497 miles. I'm now at 20543 and 30% so that is about 6050 miles. My driving is mixed, much of it 15 to 20 mile trips and a long journey (> 100 miles) about twice a month. I probably will change it around mid to late September when I suspect the oil life will be about 20%.

I change the oil about every 4k miles because of the 2.0T tendancy to have fuel dilution of oil. This will happen more if you are in a colder climate (I'm not), or if you drive shorter trips, especially if less than 20 minutes where the oil doesn't get to operating temperature for an extended time (I don't much).

0W-20 is the recommended oil according to my 2022 RDX manual. Using online manuals that recommendation holds for the 2023 and 2024 RDX. I can't find an online manual for the 2025 RDX but can for the 2025 Integra. The recommended viscosity is still 0W-20 but rather interestingly the capacity of the 2.0 liter engine is shown as 5.7 quarts with a filter change.

Thats US manual, take a look at mexican manual for the same car from honda.mx.
0w-20 is CAFE, engine will be just fine on 5w-30.

The viscosity is a recommendation, not requirement!

My Acura dealer has oil and filter change specials for $65. I get them dome twice a year at 4k - I don’t drive it much.

Other services:
  • Yearly - Engine and cabin air filters - super easy DIY.
  • 24 months - brake and differential fluid.
  • 4-6k - rotate tires. Check pressures once a month.

I was at my Honda dealer (much closer than my Acura dealer) today to get brake fluid and happened to notice a 5W-30 Honda Full synthetic OIl on the shelf adjacent to the "normal" 0W-20. I asked the parts guy and he said they have been carrying the heavier weight oil for quite some time but he didn't know if the was driven from corporate or just customer request. I found this a bit interesting.

Thats because older cars
prior (2003 or something like that) has 5w-30 in the manual.

This engine can run on either one.
