Dash cleaning? carpet cleaning? Recommend please.

Hey guys,

I am wondering what you use to clean your dash with? I want to completely clean my dash before applying protetive stuff on it.

Also, do you guys ever clean the carpets? Or vacuuming it is just fine?

I use "Spot-Shot" on the carpets, it works great on everything but the asphalt/tar disaster the wife brought home for me earlier this week (on parchment mats, no less....)

For that little gift, I used kerosene to get the tar gunk out (very light wiping action, don't soak the mat), then spot shot to get the kerosene out - it worked great.

I typically use a damp shammy to wipe the dash - I don't like Armor-All and similar treatments, as all they do is evaporate and end up as a film on the inside of the window

You can clean with Vinylex and protect with Aerospace 303 protectant, it has a low shine (matte finish) and it is supposed to have the hightest UV protection.

Where do get the Aerospace 303? Is it off the shelf at Pep Boys, Auto Zone, etc or a specialty shop?

properautocare and their sister site are both good sites for product reviews and you can also order from them. I have ordered from them and haven't had any problems, their prices seem fair, and their site has good advice.

Too funny. I find that REI, my favorite camping store, carries it. Bricot, thanks for the heads up on Autopia. Cool site.
