Damn blower fan is on again.

Happened to me again. Come out to go to work to find the battery is dead because the blower fan has been running all night.

Happened to me this summer, and I was doubtful because I know it was damn hot out, but last night it was 40 degrees out.

Took it in last time and a Honda dealer couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Any ideas here?

I think you mean the radiator fan. Change your fan switch and see if that works.

Yes it's your radiator fan switch getting jam 'cause of the moisture .

Or it's could be your motor oil temp sensor , it use to detect the temp
of the oil after shut off and will make the fan run for a while and stop
even your ignition 's key is out.
I would check the radiator fan switch first then the motor oil temp sensor.
Good luck

It's the radiator fan switch. I replaced mine at 50K.

Search for a picture of where it's located. It's on the right side of the block near the radiator hose where is goes into the block. It's got a plug plug on it. You just unscrew it from the block and screw the new one on.

i just start the car again and turn it off to stop the fan
is this a bad thing to do?

When the fan and switch is working properly, it will run for a few minutes after you shut down the car (if it's hot enough). I would let it run it's course. Leave the Altima alone, unless it's acting like his TL in this situation.
Starting the car and then shutting it down is just more wear and tear.

Thank you so much for the replies. This switch idea sounds right, esp. if the dealership can't figure it out.

Get this though - I get a jump this morning and take it down to the dealer, and when the tech is diagnosing he noticed my tranny is about to go to shit (dunno how he can tell, didn't ask, knew he was probably right) - so they're gonna call Acura to see if the problems grant me a free transmission under the recall. On top of that, my service writer said there might be a chance the transmission and fan problem could be related, in which case it'll all be under warranty. (I highly doubt there is a relation, but I guess the service writer can try to spin it that way.)

Anyway, got a nice 2006 TSX loaner with XM, so I'm happy as a clam right now.

Guess this Friday the 13th wasn't so bad anyway.

Sounds like the service dude is puffin'...but not passin'. How is the tranny related to the fan switch ? Your tranny should be covered under warranty.

Yeah I don't know what he's smoking either. I'm just happy they caught my tranny going bad before it took a dump on the freeway.

When the fan stays on, are both fans supposed to stay on or just one? I noticed my fan staying on, but its only on one side - I think it's the passenger side one.

John Eagle Acura. I bought the car at Sterling McCall, but John Eagle is closer to where I live/work.

When I bought the car two years ago, John Eagle was kind of on the shitty side of service, but the past two or three times I've been there, they've really stepped up. Nice guys.

They said they're moving to a new dealership in March/April, between Barker Cypress/Hwy 6. I wonder if it will be anything like the enormous "Mecca of Honda" that the John Eagle Honda dealership is.

Only the radiator fan will stay on (passenger) not the condensator fan ( for A/C).

Damnit. Fricken' dealership gets their heads under my hood and they find all sorts of things wrong.

Guy calls me up to say my engine mounts are breaking, my rotors are warped, and I need an alignment. (But nothing about my radiator fan! Said the code was thrown by the transmission.)

Gah. Since they have it in pieces now I told them to replace the mounts, that seems like serious business, but I'll be damned if I couldn't get out of the dealership without paying for something, and they haven't even taken a look at what I brought the damn thing in for in the first place!

Blower fan - more

I have a 02 tls which I recently purchased with 70K miles. I noticed the electric cooling fan seems to be on all the time. I assume that this should only be on when it is needed - some temperature control. Is this correct? Does anyone have a pictur ewhere the control switch is located?

THANKS!

Yes. I'm actually upset that they called me just now to tell me my car is ready. I've been enjoying the TSX so much.

I really miss the TL's V6 power on the freeway, but for the mostly city street driving I do, the TSX's I4 is surprisingly powerful, and the handling is phenominal. Incredibly stiff. The fit and finish of the thing is great as well. It's ultra tight, like prom night. Love the styling.

I plan on keeping the TL forever, but when my car loan is up in two years I'm probably most certainly going to buy a TSX (provided the new model doesn't look atrocious) to keep the TL company.

I would like this information as well. Pics and/or a DIY would be great. After replacing the transmission and the engine mounts, they still did not find anything wrong with the radiator fan/battery, which is what I actually brought it in for.

Is it as simple as popping the hood, unplugging the old switch and plugging the new one in? I'm just going to admit I'm a noob at this stuff.

Also, where is a good place to buy the part?

Thanks again for all the wonderful advice in this thread, and thanks in advance for the fan switch info.
