Quick question: If there is a code 302, 303, 304, 305, 306, and 1399 what do they all mean? The engine on the 99TL is shaking preety bad. i tried changing the spark plugs and even changed the intake manifold gasket. The check engine and TCS light come on.

Could it be related to fuel filter? The car is misfiring preety bad. any info would be appreciated.

Also, with the swap method on the ignition coils, how do you know if the cylinder is actually working or not?

i already searched it and dont know what to do. Thanks.

TLs do NOT have fuel filter.
You might wanna check on your EGR Syestem or your Oxygen Sensor.

TLs do have a a fuel filter, its is in the gas tank. Where is the oxygen sensor located? and wouldnt there be a specific oxygen sensor code if it went bad?

I had the same problem. My problem was bad fuel injectors, try running an injector cleaner.

well if you replace a coil on the tl you would have to have had to replace 6 of them cause the TL doesnt have a coil and wires. it has individual "Coil Packs" for each cyl that sit on top of each plug.

if you are having a missfire on all 6 its either a fuel problem or a ecu problem. you may want to bring it in and have some one fix that unless you are capable of measureing fuel pressure to test to see if thats whats causing it

i guess ill try changing the fuel filter. could that cause the fuel pressure to drop? i already ran fuel injector cleaner, cleaned the intake manifold, changed the gasket. I dont know if 5 of the ignition coils can go bad at once, or one ignition coil going bad can throw the whole engine off like that.

i had 5 out of the 6 cylinders mis firing, so i did trial/error wit the plugs, and didnt work, so i had new plugs, and went to the dealer ship, then they said it was the coil ignition.

so PenancE, are you saying that u had 5 cylinders misfire because of only one ignition coil? How do you do a trial and error on ignition coils?

nono, i first had check engine light on, didnt go to the dealership, so i thought it could be o2 sensor, so i changed plugs/air filter. still doing it, went to the dealership 5 of 6 misfiring, and they fixed it, sayin bad coil ignition, not on all, it just said coil ignition on the work order, costed me 90-110 cdn

so it was only one coil ignition you had replaced? or more than one?

and was that one coil causing 5 out of 6 cylinders misfiring?

didnt say in the work order, went to a local shop to put the cpu on it, 5 of the 6 cylinders misfire, then i went to the dealership they said all, so im guessing they changed all. lookin at the work order now, doesnt say anythin bout how many they replaced or w/e,just says, replaced coil ignition.

But regular unleaded didn't cause the failure, either... Whoever said that is just full of it.

Yeah, I agree. It can't be from using regular unleaded. Many have been using regular on their TL's.

i dunno.....when i first, first bought the car off a friend, i used premium for bout 2 weeks, 3 or so, then prices in canada where high, so iwent to unleaded for a month or so, never noticed performance n shit like that, but yea, then the whole car acted up....coul dbe anything, but for the coil ignition, my guess, fuel.

varunverma23, i'm having the same identical problem with my 99 TL. I had my timing belt service done about 1,000 miles ago. The dealer is saying that my timing is off. (possibly due to the timing belt install?) I also had my spark plugs replaced with new ngk's. The car is pretty much sputtering very badly. Same symptoms as yours. Same CEL codes.

I pretty much don't know what else it could be. The acura mechanic says it's probably not the fuel pressure. I asked him to check the fuel pressure and he kept insisting that it's not the fuel pressure. I'm totally lost right now. The car is parked and I will be having the car's timing re-checked. Goodluck... Let us know what else you find out.

Alright! UPDATE.........

I think I found the problem. If I was you I would try to test your coil packs. Even though the check engine light is throwing random cylinder misfires, I believe that can be caused by just ONE bad coil pack. I found out that one of my coil packs are bad, getting a new one tomorrow.

Everyone has been telling me since I am having random misfires, that all of my coil packs would be bad. That has to be wrong, b\c I am having random misfires cylinder's 1-6 and I found one bad coil.

What pissess me off the most is, the damm stealership told me the coil packs were fine. Damm idiot. They also told me my timing (timing belt) is out of time. I spent $250 today just to have someone tear apart my timing belt covers, crank and other accessories just to verify timing was good and a teeth was not skipped. The dealer wanted $450 to check this, while I took it someone else for 250. To add to that, I spent 200 at the dealer for stupid plugs and the diagnosis fee that didn't do sh*t.. The service guy had the nerves to tell me the spark plugs helped. I had told him it wasn't the plugs b\c I just replaced it myself trying to figure out what the misfires are from. Anyhow, I will let you know what happens tomorrow. I hope you will save a few hundred. As I have spent about 400-500 as we speak. When a coil pack is only $50, install is easy. I can do it literally, in about 15 seconds with all the tools in hand.

Goodluck to everyone....

yes 1 bad coil has been known to throw a random missfire, usually though it shows up on the ecu as which one. im surprised that teh dealer wasnt able to diagnose what was wrong. now the trick is to find which one is causing it

yea man, i had to find this out $450 later...

I should be happy I found the culprit, but I'm mad knowing how it is probably that bad coil that I could have replaced myself.
