Cracking noise from sunroof !!!
When I make a tight turn, the car (2000 TL with 60K) makes one single cracking noise. The noise seems to come from either the sunroof or the passenger door. I checked all the nuts & bolts I can see and they're all tight.
Any idea???

Try some silicone spray lube on the rubber seal for the sunroof and its outer edge seal
and check its track for clean and lube it- and make sure the little screws there are tight
Same lube gets used on all the rubber door seals- good winter anti freeze protection from it too!
Stranger things cause noises

Rattling sunroof
There are two plastic trim pieces on both sides attached with phillips screw. You need to the cover off that covers the screws.I put 1/4 foam tape on the backside problem solved.

The cracking noise I have is different from the rattle. This is one single high pitch noise that sounds like broken glass. I think in a tight turn, the car body flex a bit and it makes the sunroof to flex, which makes the noise.
Anyway, I'll try what you suggested to see if it helps. Thanks.

I wasnt thinking- you have a gen2- get a lower frame bar and maybe the strut tower bar- I have both and it really tightened the car up- I notice some rear squeaks I didnt before, but the car can be placed anywhere in a turn and stick, and quick dive lane changes are fun rather than an event
You are right- cut a big hole in the roof of a recycled beer can and guess how much flex occurs~
Its worse with the it open

Wow i havent seen a moonroof issue on this forum in years. Try taking some 303 (silicone will work too) to the rubber seal on the moonroof. Acura had a TSB for that many many years ago and it was to add a Teflon tape to where the rubber seal touched the body to keep the creeks away. I used 303 and it worked better.

Yea- baby powder ---until it gets wet!! - use silicone spray or 303
The stock tower bar isnt!!- look at it- goes from FENDER to under the top ridge of the firewall edge- not structural points on the car
It locates the body to itself- not the frame/suspension points to itself. You add the cusco bar to the OE, top one- it uses the 3 bolts on top of shock tower as it base mounts~
Total differance!!

I finally found where the noise came from. It's not from the sunroof itself, but from the front edge of the opening. The roof includes 2 sheets of metal, both come down to form the front edge of the sunroof opening. These 2 sheets were pressed together at several spots, each one is about 3/4" wide. At least at one of these spots, the pressing didn't make the metal sheets completely attached, and during hard turnings these 2 metal sheets rub to each other that causes the cracking noise.
The Acura dealer put some kind of jelly substance (silicone?) in the crevis but the noise doesn't go away (it seems to improve a bit though).
