My fans turn on quiet often and its kinda annoying. At first I thought it might be normal and then i saw I had low coolant so i filled it up. Then it was in the middle of the night and it was cold outside and i started up the car and then like a minute later the fan came on. Now thats telling me something is wrong and it just keeps turning on. There is no reason it should have came on if its cold outside and i just startd the car. Can someone help me out. I thought it might be the thermostat but not sure. Please help and fellow TLer in need. thanks

 

The fan on the TL does run alot. Its fairly normal. Also if you have the Defrost on it turns the AC on and that causes it to run the 2nd fan on very short cycles

 

Bad coolant fan switch or
Need to burp the cooling system since you said it was low on coolant.

A bad themostat will make it overheat, while the fan is on or not.

to check your thermostat, make sure you check both upper and lower hose .after start up your car for 5-10 minutes both hoses should be hot, if one of them isn't, thermostat is not working

since your coolant was low, make sure check your radiator to see any leaking coolant..
