CompTech Ice Box

When will it be available for our cars? Think it will be better than the AEM intake available now?

To tell you the truth. The comptech high flow filter and removing the resornator is the best I have seen and it would only cost you around $60. I had a Short ram, custom CAI and tested AEM and Injen CAI on other TL's. I get the most power, best sound and best price from the high flow filter and removing the resornator. Is just the best. The only thing is that all this was done on a '99 TL, so it might be different with the '02 or type S models. Good luck. Oh the comptech Ice box does not come out until probably december.

Very good on TL-S

Removing the resonator and installing a CT high-flow filter is what I have done to my TL-S. I am very happy with it. Same exact thing as having a CAI. Same performance gain. Same sucking sound. Very nice roar when I step on it. Less money to spend. Less headache to install.

I heard taking the resonator out is a pain. This is the only car I ever had that needs to take the front facia off just to get to a part of the air box! So you guys really thing it work the same HP? would look stock too

Exclamation

Personally I'm going with the Injen intake. The CompTech Ice Box, while from Comptech (which everyone loves, myself included) is going to be waaaay too expensive (I've read around the $350 - $370 range). I've also read that the impressive gains with it are when it's used in conjunction with the supercharger, so who knows what it will do on a NA car. I'm nervous to remove the resonator b/c of inspection issues, otherwise, I'd look into it....

How hard would it be to put the resonator back if it were removed? Again, for the inspection issues...

Not sure, but judging by what TypeSMaximum wrote above (removing the front bumper), doesn't sound like something I need to do... I'd rather install a CAI. I know I can pass with that (had a short ram on my CL).....
