use it all year as long as not huge snowbanks or waist deep puddles of water

The filter type will determine when to clean or change- what brand cai and type filter are you using
paper gets replaced when dirty- a year or 2
foam clean once a year or k&n clean once a year and last forever

If its been extra dusty or other bad conditions-check the filter and clean as needed- its feeding the engine~
ck your cabin air filter too- its supposed to be done yearly- easy 20 dollar diy- its feeding your lungs

It will be fine.
I've used mine through Wisconsin winters.

Just clean/replace when it needs it.

just clean the filter before and after the winter, no need to replace if you have a good quality filter
