Clunking noise from trunk/rear

I know someone posted here that they were experiencing a clunking noise coming from the rear/trunk area. I've checked everything, tools, spare (even looked to see if I had lost a golf ball back there...) but everything is tight. I've done no mods...but when I accelerate hard, its like something is moving around, also when turning right and accelerating...

any thoughts?

could be the wheel lock nut that the mechanics left in the spare wheel well after rotating your tires

The best way to tell is to have someone lock you in the trunk and drive away

In the trunk, right below the woofer you'll see 2 skinny metal bars held together by a plastic clip (gray in color). The clip is loose and if you pull on the bars and release them the will make a clunking noise. As soon as I figure out how to take the clip out, I'll fix the damn noise.

Those are the torsion bars. I wouldn't remove that clip. It holds the bars from rubbing on the underframe. My clip broke and I went to the dealer and they ordered me a new one, free.

I guess I didn't express myself clearly. I want to take the clip off and velcro the damn thing or something. I didn't mean to say to just take it off and leave it off.

This thread cracks me up. Not to make light of your problem -- this type of problem is the worst kind because it will drive you absolutely nuts! It does me anyway. What's funny is -- it's your torsion bar clip, it's your exhaust, it's you jiggafloppy, it's the same thing that's making those voices in your head, etc, etc.

Good luck!

No joke man Or at least down here in Austin, where we don't believe in putting merge lanes on 70mph highways...just try to merge in front of a semi.

merge lanes are for babies...just like the old "Central Expressway" in Dallas before they redid the whole thing....cars going 80 and no merge lane just a short on ramp and bam...floor it and close your eyes and hope the beeotch in the suburban in front of you doesn't panic and stop cold....
