Clifford vs. Viper vs. Python Alarm/Remote Start
Clifford vs. Viper vs. Python Alarm/Remote Start
Im really curious if these are any different at all. They are all Alarm Systems with Remote start. All three companies are owned by Direct Electronics and all three products seem EXACTLY the same with the exact same specs. Can anyone shed some light on this for me please. Anyone have these or reccommend one over the other? These are the three that I am looking at.
1. Clifford 50.5X
2. Viper 5900
3. Python 990

from what i know, they are teh exact same, i have a viper 791 with the same remote. This remote sucks it breaks easy and the battery needs to be changed every month. I have used a prestige alarm by audiovox and liked that one MUCH BETTER! My friends viper alarm died within a year. The brain fried on it. Mines been working good. Next time im gonna be sure to go with prestige. Thas my
i have a clifford and would recomend it, and yes when you have the pager it eats up a AAA battery a month, since i have a batt charger i went ahead and got a recharable AAA, and that last like 2-3 months....
i went to buy a car starter and get the place to install it, and they told me ok free installation but you have to wait till the end of January. and everything would come up to 500$ or so and thats without the alarm mind you. now isnt that a rip off?

but yeah, i just got myself a viper 791 and i was planning on installing it this weekend.. any other complaints about the 791 i should know about before i install? paid 250$ with one remote.
got the viper 5900. i paid 820 installed with everything you can possible get added to it. havent had a problem yet. except for the dang AAA batteries dieing every couple of months. but the remote start is nice in the winter.

my viper has been on my car since 2002 no issues. of course i went to an installer thats been doing this stuff for 20 years
i did break my remote once and ended up getting a new one, but not that big if a deal since it was dude to normal wear and tear. btw to the poster above, do you keep the belt clip (or maybe its just a clip) on your remote even if u dont clip it to anything? i do, it absorbs most of the impact and keeps it held together nicely

im tied between the viper and compustar...i havent had any experince with the viper whatsoever..and ive owned a nustart one which is made by compustar and i had no problems with it at all. so i highly recomend the compustar.
I definitely want to upgrade my alarm system - but I could care less about a remote start. All I want is a glass break detector, shock and tilt detector - and that's it actually. Any way I can add this on to the factory system? That would be perfect. I'll couple all of that with LoJack and be set!
