Clicking Noise When I Break and Gas Sometimes

I hear a clicking noise when I brake sometimes. Once I step on the brake, I hear a click once. It sounds more like a metal click. But its not always and sometimes I feel like I hear random clicks while driving slowly.

I also hear a click if I am in reverse and I step on the gas. But if I don't step on the gas nothing happens. I remember someone telling me a while ago that if I'm in reverse and I hear a click when I gas it means something (maybe motor mounts) but I forgot or maybe I'm imagining things.

I don't hear it all the time so it's hard to tell what is causing it but I hear is occasionally when I step on the brake(sometimes), driving slowly (very few times), and gas on reverse(mostly).

I think I need motor mounts so could it be that? My car shakes a little and follows with like a getting pulled back feeling sometimes when I let off the gas at low speeds.

Thanks guys.

have it ckd by a shop for:
cv axle bearing failure
motor mount condition
brakes
tell them what it does and let them figure it out
An alignment shop or a small private shop -look in phone book

Is it only when you first start out after starting the car?

Nah it happens throughout driving. I guess the whole time. I live in the city so its noisy and I have my windows down so I don't hear it much. But when I'm looking for parking when I get home and I put my windows down, I hear it.

And it not over bumps or anything. Its really random. I hear it more often when driving on straight good roads.

Take your wheels off and see if there is play in the pads

What do you mean by play in the pads? If my pad are worn out or if they are moving around?

both
there is slight movement of the pad in the bracket with caliper installed
there has to be~
but if the end tabs are worn down on the pads- they move in a direction they are not supposed to!!

Nah its not a constant click like that. Its like once in a while. I hear it randomly when I brake, gas, or are rolling at low speeds.

you know what when i was changing my transmission fluid (3x3) a few weeks ago. and as i was downshifting and upshifting and coming to a complete stop and passing my park cars on side streets, i could hear a click sound.

so for example. i'm driving on a side street in a neighborhood and riding past park cars, i brake and come to a stop sign, i can hear a click, like the transmission is resetting back to 1st gear or something. i only hear it when i step on the gas and when i'm downshift back to first gear at a stop sign.

i'm not sure if that's the shift solenoids operating or not.

maybe that's what the OP is referring to.

Have any of you changed your CV axle recently? I've had a clicking noise ever since I changed the passenger side. It's a clicking sound as if something is loose; not like a worn CV axle. I think it is the CV axle moving side to side (facing the car). I plan on taking things apart soon to diagnose.

did you use a new parts cv axle assembly from good store- napa-oreillys etc--

or went with rebuilt unit?
those are good for doorstops

HAd the EXACT same problem couple days ago played round with it saw thay my cv joint was leaking so i replaced that but still didnt fix the problem so i lifted the car up and saw that all of the mounts to the frame itself were loose if you have a car for over 100,000 most likely rust has loosened some bolts get them tightend and check all of your suspension parts. My problem was just loose mounts replaced them with new ones sprayed it witd wd40 and i was good

My passenger side cv half shaft problem started with a small clicking metal sound that only made noise upon my 1st turn out of the driveway after the car was cold. It happened (the noise) when turning sharply either left and right. Eventually it led to a vibration on the steering wheel and the front right tire wearing very fast. Thanks to posts like this thread, I reached behind the wheel and felt the boot and felt a whole and grease all over the boot so I knew which axle was bad.

Anyways, the story I want to share is with the reman. parts. Don't replace the part with a reman! It will waste your time and money! I was seduced into buying one based on price and got 2 bad ones before I bought the axle from Acura. Both of the reman parts clicked from the inside and sounded ghetto. I have a mechanic in Hollywood who is awesome, I take him the parts and he installs. He charged $150 but I gave him 250 since he changed the axles 3x. He was just being nice since we've given him a lot of business over the years. Anyways, I was without my Acura for 4 days chasing parts when I could've had it done in an hour and a half! Be wary of non Acura
Parts. This may not happen to you with reman but it should be something to consider.

Sometimes i get a noise that sounds like a mechanical lifting/ticking at 20-35mph (40-50km/h).
Almost as if some animal is in there scratching making a mechanical ticking noise.
Usually i am going up a hill at a fairly low rpm. (1.5+k)
Any idea what this could be?
Lifters aging?
Its not at idle just low end torque sustained cursing...
I think i should bring this up...
im at 46k miles or 75k km

thats awfully low rpm for climbing a hill- no torque power at all--could be rattling the valves
what gear are you in
does it do it if you drop down a gear or 2 and try 3000 rpm where it has power

Get a $5 mechanics stethascope and start probing around the valve covers- listen for a noise different than the rest

or may even be inner cv bearing failure

need it on the lift with the stethascope to know whats wrong

Ok,
Sounds like a plan,
Usually 4th/3rd, D5 likes to pick that / one of those gears...
It dosen't gear down itself...
I see what your saying, the car doesn't have enough power to climb, it does anyway, but shes not happy.
The fact that its fine at idle and highway cruising and only that specific instance supports that theory right?

Would you say this is a "bad" thing or only normal for whats going on and no real harm.
I know its tough to say right but just a ballpark...

Would it be the cv bearing when the car only has 46k miles?

There's a lot of slow traffic with hills, so often i climb them at a lower rpm... as im not going anyyyy where fast.
and, i think i baby my car too much sometimes...

I have the same clicking when I press on the brakes, it only clicks once when I press down on it and I can hear the click under the shifter. Anybody have an idea of what that could be?

Ok, last night I was able to go up some big hills that usually trigger the ticking.
I went into tiptronic/ss and downshifted to 3rd.
It climbed at 2.5k rpm and there was no ticking.
Tanking into consideration the noise form my exhaust & intake, i think/feel it disappeared - as there was a point when i was barley on the throttle in 3rd but no tick noise.

For future reference is valve rattle a bad thing?
Is it something that has instant damaging effects, or is it the car just saying im pissed?
I cant find a clear explanation of it.

Thanks for your help!
