Angry clearcoat flaking or peeling... wtf

as always washing my ride makes me sad. i washed it today only to find that the passenger side door peel is flaking the clearcoat off around the 'grocery cart protective strip'. i saw months ago and mentioned it to the dealership and they indicated that you can just get a new which seemed ok at the time as it was very early in stages of 'peeling' today i saw dirt trapped below it and in picking at it pulled a 2" triangular shard off. i was not pleased.

upon further investigation up by the top of the door it looks like what i saw before for the lower piece... early stages of peeling. im not sure if i should just get the door repainted or wtf to do but im not a very jovial person right now.

anyone else had this happen?

also: the front of my car is swiss cheese haha ... im gonna kill something

most likely the car was repaired/repainted before you got it....and whoever did it, didn't strip the panel and cleared over your door moldings.....

same thing for whoever's bumper is peeling, most likely not factory paint...

cant be worse than mine. i bought mine used, 70k miles, 99tl, from a nyc owner.. yeah, there are no panels on the whole car that doesn't have scratches, chips, fades, dents, dings, etc.. ive removed most of them and put touchup paint, but nothing is gonna fix it but just getting the whole car professionally worked on and repainted

4-years/50,000-miles on most of the stuff.

The body shop manager told me that it happens often. You might want to give it a try with the dealership, depending on how many miles you have. You never know; they might do it for free on good will. It's worth a shot.

If not, I was told that the part comes in already painted. Contact Tim at 1-888-RAY-LAKS and ask him for a quote on the part. I buy all my OEM stuff from him.

It's an Acura dealership, and they will not be open tomorrow.

You could also E-mail him at Hondacura world@aol.com (remove the space).
