I think that is low, or is that about accurate. I live in Houston and do lot of city driving but I hardy every floor it.

.

I've got 3200 miles and getting the oil changed on Saturday.

But when would that effect the gas milage? You would think that a new car would get better gas milage.

Thanks again for the help!

check if the mileage changes after the oil change. its a new car but it takes time for the engine to be broken in.

That sounds about right. After all, the car weighs 3500lbs- you can only expect so much in stop-and-go driving. If you need city mileage, get a Prius.

Have you calculated the actual mileage? Fill the tank and reset the trip odo. Next time you fill, divide the trip miles by the gallons filled from the receipt. That's your MPG. (No, i don't think your an idiot- some people don't know how to do this.)

When my wife drives the car in-town for the whole tank, we get about 19.5-20mpg. That's total stop&go, with most trips being <5miles. On the highway, I've gotten as high as 29mpg. The climate control is always on 70-72 (I've never had the windows down), so that lowers it a bit.

My car has 9000 miles on it and I'm getting 250-270 miles between fill ups. I always fill up with a 1/4 tank left. I'm averaging 22 - 24 mpg. That's half city and half highway driving. In my opinion, that's pretty damn good for a 3500 lbs car!
