when i was driving my 99 TL today the check engine and TCS light both came on at the same time, i wasn't running the car hard just regular driving, when i got home i shut it off and started it up again and only the check engine light remained on. If anyone knows why this happened or has any ideas please let me know. (the tramsmission is shifting and working fine.) thanks.

 

mines done that twice now, and both times it was a carbon build up in the upper part of the intake

 

mine has done that too, and just today was really low rpms when I started it and left in in park, almost stalled.

Is that carbon build up as well??

i had to pull the intake off the engine and pull the top plate (the part thats visible poking through the plastic engine cover) off and spray cleaner and scrub the deposits out.
(the first time it happened the dealer did it and i watched) the 2nd time it did it i cleaned it my self saving me 140 dollars.
you may want to bring it in to have pluged in to see if that is the problem. and if it is its really easy to do. (took about 30-40 min)

 

mine did it 2 but it was a wire that some small animal chewed it was a sensor wire and it turned on my tcs and check engine light, nuthing happend, dealer charged me $215 to replace

 

mine did it also....3rd gear ratio incorrect....hmm, i told then the tranny was screwed, they finally believed me after "dealer cannot duplicate problem"

 

does anyone know how much an Acura dealer charges to hook up the car and see what the problem is?
