If I goto non Dealer place and they change my oil, will this turn off the Dang MAIN REQ'd light?

Not automatically; the owners manual has the instructions for how to reset it

 

yeah the owners manual has the instructions, or search for it this site.

 

You need to hold the select and reset button while turning the key to position II (this means all electronics function but engine is off). Continue holding the buttons until the maintenance light turns off. Then continue holding the buttons while you turn the key into the Position III (turn on the engine). The light should now be gone...

 

yea mine is also flashing dealer told me once i do an oil change it will stop but it hasn't. Now there saying it needs the 60000 mile tune up....

 

bull s*it. I was able to clear my maintenance light also when it was flashing. Use the method that I posted above and all will be good.

Mine got turned off when I brought it to jiffy lube for an oil change. I dont think the mechanics there know how to reset the light. But I could be wrong

 

Most of those "Iffy lube" places know all the tricks, at least the good guys do.

According to the manual, the light only comes on as an oil change reminder. Not for the big intervalled tune-ups.
I could be wrong but...
... the dealer has a lot of $$ to make by saying it does!
