Certified Car Problem
Certified Car Problem
Hi All,
i need some guidance and suggestion...
i bought a certified Acura TL 2003 + extended warranty in april 2006
I have a major problem with the car, when it rains heavily water start pouring into the car in the driver side and the floor gets wet,and the person driving also get wet.
I took it for a fix in March to the acura dealer and they told me the problem has been fixed... well it was as there were no rains......
last week it rained heavily and the same problem.....took my car back and now they are telling me that the down the line, the original windshield has been replaced and the one i have right now is creating problem/.... and this wont be covered in any of my warranties ,as the windshield is not a factory product... it will cost me 800$+ tax...
Can some please help me understand when i bought a certified car paid 2500 extra for warranty ,wasn't the the dealers responsibility to give a clean car, and they should be reliable for the windshield ,and shouldn't they checked the windshield before they sold it as a certified car?
please guide me on my options as 800 is a lot of money....

Well, water leaks is one of Acura's 150-point certified vehicle inspection. Shove that into their face and tell them you bought a car that was certified against any leaks (whether or not the windshield was replaced), and you expect them to fix it.
I think we both are screwed, I don't think certfied means anything. I bought my car "certified" and paid around $2300 for the "Acura Care" warranty (which appears to only cover the tranny and engine). After the day I bought it home, both headlights blew and the rearview mirror started shaking. Lucky for me at the time, I was under the "60 day" and remaining factory warranty. Certified appears to not mean anything. Before I bought my car, I had to get the center console replaced because the asshole who owned it before me keyed it pretty bad. This tells me that they really don't inspect the cars before putting them on the lot. If it has low miles, they stamp a pretty certified stamp on it regardless of engine/car problems. I rushed and bought the car because my 94 legend was about to blow up lol and I needed transportation. If I were you, I'd call the dealer and complain until they get sick of you or call the acura headquarters. That seems to be the only thing that works for me lol. good luck man.
Did you talk to the service manager? If you didn't, give him/her a call and explain the situation. If all else fails, call Acura Client Services and state your case to them. I hope all your problems get resolved.
u know if you have Allstate, u can get insurance for the winshield. Just add it, and then throw a rock at your winshield, make sure it breaks and make sure it's in the driver's view. Then call ur insurance and have them replace it for free
.
Not the most ethical thing to do, but it is an option, not a good one, but an option ( so don't start jumping down my throat ppl).
Another thing you can do is find the mirror from a junk yard and have someone local replace it, it only costs $100 to replace it. 1 hour job.
You can search for parts on http://car-part.com

^True, as long as it's not cosmetic they should fix it, they always have for me. They missed/overlooked my brakes when they inspected it and when I brought it back 2 weeks after I bought it they only had like 20% left, I told the used car manager and the service manager and they flipped out on the service guys and gave me a new set for free. Always talk to the manager.
