Exclamation Car stays running without key?...

So last night I stopped to park at the destination I was going to. I took the key out the ignition and got out of the car. I noticed the car was still on. Then I went to turn off my headlights, and then the car shut off.

Then when I go to start it, it wouldn't turn on without the headlights on.

Whats going on?

Anyone?

Could it be my ignition switch?

Could be, but I'd be more inclined to think it's an aftermarket remote starter. Has the car been yours since new? Have you installed a remote starter?

I've owned the car since 2008. The original owner was an old man. No aftermarket alarm or remote starter was installed.

Also, I was just messing with it and noticed that even without the key, if I turn on my headlights, it puts the car into ON mode (Click before starting the car).

AHHHH!!!!

The previous owner must have installed a secret "starter/ignition kill" function to prevent the car from being hot-wired.

Yeah, but having owned the car since 2008 and no other similar problems....IDK !
Have ya done anything lately (electrically related) that may have provoked this ????

Not at all. I've only replaced the O2 sensors and TDC(Camshaft Sensors) to pass smog. Other than that, I've had a fully wired system since the first week I had the car. But havent messed with anything electrical.

Ok, I just unplugged my foglight mod, and now it's gone. I think I used the wrong fuse for the add-a-circuit. But the weird thing is, I've had that mod for a long time and it just started doing this yesterday.
