Can you disable the passenger mirror?

Ever since I got my Tl I hated the side mirror tilting down when you back up. Its no so annoying I have to ask you pros if you can disable that feature without losing the adjustable mirrors? When my son drives the car he readjust all the mirrors.

Set your mirror toggle switch to the middle position.

^ Nope it Works if you set it in the middle!
Just select the left mirror or right mirror instead it will disable the auto-tilt..

And I'm curious how does the Auto-tilt affect your adjustment in any way? The auto-tilt is a nice feature especially if you are backing up somewhere new and you don't know how close you are to the sidewalk.

Agree, on mine, if you leave the switch in the middle, the auto tilt does work-you have to leave the switch to one side or the other to disable..

The auto tilt is nice when it works right, but the op probably has the same trouble mine has-after a few backup cycles, the mirror doesn't return to the original place, and you end up constantly readjusting it.

I'm guessing this is a post-MMC thing? MY '00 TL doesn't do this.

You want to disable the auto tilt??? I love that thing! everyone who gets in my car goes "ohhh thats so cool" haha. But in any case, as skirmich said, just leave the mirror switch on the left or right and it'll stop tilting when you're in reverse.

I've really become dependant on it, helps me to not curb my rims. I'm used to it so much that if im parking on the left, I have to tilt the driver side mirror down before i start backing up

Yea 99-01 didn't get this feature.
I got used to tilting it down manually when needed.

I stand corrected, you're right. It's been a while.

I personally love the auto-tilt feature too.

I've been driving for over 30 years and I've never needed to stare at a curb to back up lol. Glad you guys like it. It freaked my boss out when he sat shotgun and I had to explain it to him, he even said its a weird feature. I did as told thanks cause no it won't move!

When you get a different set of wheels you will understand the paranoia of not hitting your shiny new +950 bucks set into a sidewalk specially with low profile tires. I use it even on the stupidest back up.. Heck I even use my back up camera more often that I would like hahaha

Modern Gimmicks gotta love them.

Better get used to it because its becoming more and more common/standard on most cars

In a few more years there won't be side view mirrors - it'll all be cameras. Presumably the cameras will still tilt downward, though.
