A/C not cold enough?

Do you guys have the impression that the A/C is not cold enough even if the temperature is set to 65F? Especially now during the hot summer, the A/C seems to not be cold enough, just wondering if you guys have the same problem.

hhhmm.... mine appears to work just fine. It will cool down the cabin a few minutes after I turn on to Auto and set the temp to 70F. Well ... it only gets around 85-90F around here in Bay Area.

Cheers !!!

My AC works great. Even when it is near 100 degrees out with 98% humidity within 4-5 minutes the car is starting to feel cold when I set the AC 65 degrees.

the tahoes have 2 exchangers 1 front 1 rear. we discovered that on my buddies 2001 when we were taking things apart for grins. thats why the tahoe cools down really cold

Can we buy something to make it colder?

Upgrade something?

It would be cool if you could buy a special fast and silent blower and a super cool compressor for the South. Texas is hot man.

Don't listen to people from the north when they say "my car blows arctic cold air even with 1000% humidity and 900 degree heat".... the TL's A/C is not as powerful as some other cars on the road.

I've noticed that even if it is really hot outside, high humidity, whatever, if the sun is not shining directly on the car, the car will still cool well. However, if that Texas sun is out and beating down on your car, good luck in getting it to cool. Honda A/Cs are OK... they were just not designed for climates such as South Texas.

The TL AC definitely isn't as good as other cars (the bmw 740il = awesome AC!). When its hot I find it doesn't get cold enough until I'm on the freeway.

maybe a coolant change is in order.. The cooler the car runs, the cooler the A/C will run...

They were not designed for Ky either. Glad the folks in Mass. and NY like them.

Well, let me say that here in Jacksonville FL. gets really hot and humid, like right now is 84 but feels like 98 degrees with a 74% humidity, I don't know but that is hot in any book. My A/C works great, it will freeze your behind in a matter of minutes, so much that the recirculating opens up to get fresh air from the outside and we all know that this is not the max cooling mode, only when it recirculates. I can say that it is colder than my Maxima used to be by a lot and I didnt have leather on the Max. by the way mine is set up at 71 in auto all the time. My suggestion for you is to check the freon at the dealer is possible that is low, rare because your car is an '03 but it could happend.

I have an 03 TL-P (I've had it since Nov. 02, absolutely love this car) and I've noticed that it doesn't cool nearly as well as the A/C in my 01 Eddie Bauer Expedition. I can set the automatic climate control at 77 in the EXpedition and it almost runs you out of there. However, I need to set it at 71 and sometimes lower in the TL to get the same results. The TL is nighthawK with ebony interior maybe that has something to do with it. I do like the fact that the A/C doesn't blow noisily. I live in TX, by the way.

Just had mine checked at the dealer and they said it was up to specs.. Still not as good as an average American car's system.

My car cools off as fast as any car I've ever owned, and I live in Orlando. Of course, I specifically chose WDP, with Parchment for this reason. I've also put on 35% metallic, no-dye tint, and use a custom fit heat shield in the windshield (when parked, of course). All this for the purpose of minimizing heat gain. The inside of the car doesn't get much more than 5* above the outside temp, even after sitting in the direct sun for hours.

Those of you who drive black on black in the Deep South- well, you deserve what you get for going against the laws of Nature.

Cool Hey Busters!

I live in Dallas, TX... and No Arctic Breeze... It does the trick but no magic here....

If I rated it it would get an 7.75 because it's quiet.

Also try to set the climate control on around 70 or 65 because I've always thought that if you let it go full blast from the get go (on 60).... it has a hard time cooling the interior.

Istead of high and low for the heated seats they should have cool and heat for them... Then when the desired temp. is achieved you can just swich it off. Deliverence will come!

It's so f u ckin hot you get silly. LOL I love it!:thefinger :thefinger

I have 2002 TLS and I would agree that even at 60 it doesn't feel as cold as it should at 60. It may get there eventually but it takes some time.

Also I hate the fact that Acura doesn't have vent just beneath the steering wheel to cool your thieghs.

You can buy a can of R134A to top off the system. I just fill the system with the hose (everybody sells them) thru the low side fitting while the engine and AC are running. My low side cap is light blue and has an "L" on it, and is located about three inches from the passenger side upper shock mount. If alittle has leaked out over a few years this is normal and this should fix it. If you have a bigger leak or the climate control system is fouled up this will not help. You can legally work with R134, it's R12 that is restricted. Be sure not to overfill the system as the compressor won't like that. Only a check with gauges can you know all this for sure. Be carefull.

Have you checked your sight glass on the accumulator? If you see bubbles, your low on freon. Also, periodically wash out your condenser (in front of your radiator) If that's plugged with dirt or bugs, you don't get efficient heat transfer.

When it's set at 60 and still isn't cold, is the fan going at high in full auto? Sounds like you have a problem somewhere. If you're full on freon, also could be a bad expansion valve.
